In simple terms, globalisation is related to the interconnection of different countries
through trade or cultural exchange (Scarborough, 2016). Globalisation has contributed
substantially in the growth of economy of the nation and along with this they have played a great
role in raising the living standards of the lives of people living in the society. Barclays Bank, is
one of the renowned organisation and a multinational investment bank and financial service
institution in United Kingdom that provides funds to companies and for other activities as well.
Present assignment will help in determining an impact of globalisation on marketing department
of Barclays Bank. For this, aims and objectives were developed on the basis of which project
management plan will be formulated which will be based on chosen theme. Thus, with the help
of this, small scale research will be carried out in which data and information will be collected
that will further support the report. Lastly, on the basis of this, conclusion and recommendation
will be included that which will support performance of the company.

Background of the Project
Globalisation has in-acted as a major source for companies in order to gain maximum
benefits. This has made the process of trading of goods and services easier because of which firm
can get their raw material at cheaper cost (Crane and Matten, 2016). The major positive impact
of globalisation is that it has enabled company in expanding its business in different parts of the
world. Along with this, international trade and finance has improved the competition between
firms because of the spreading of technology, aggregate productivity etc., According to the case
scenario, Barclays Bank, which is one of the leading financial institutions in United Kingdom,
has hired a consultancy firm which will conduct the research on the behalf of the company so as
to provide details related to the marketing function of the organisation. Barclays Bank, performs
four basic core business operations i.e. personal banking, corporate banking, wealth management
and investment management.

Henceforth, with the help of this assignment Barclays Bank, will get to know about the
field where they have to perform effectively in order to give proper services and facilities to its

mentioned. Thus, A project management plan can be considered as an base document which can
be further reviewed or taken as references for clarifying uncleared areas (Slawsky and Zafar,
2017). Therefore, while conducting this research, researcher has considered some of the points
that are mentioned below for better understanding:

Work Breakdown Structure: This is a structure that visibly defines the scope of the

effective manner. Furthermore, these segments are categorised into chunks which are explained
in details related to the task which is to be performed. A work breakdown structure includes
certain elements such as product, data, services or combination of all three. Therefore, it can said
that WBS provides a proper guidance for executing the task in an effective manner without any
complications (Pekuri and et. al., 2014).
Gantt Chart: This is a tool which is used by a company in order to have a proper
knowledge about the task and time taken for accomplishing the work in a better manner. Gantt
Chart includes a step-by-step procedure and it is represented into horizontal axis that shows time
to be taken and vertical axis that represents activities. This shows the relationship between
activities that are to be performed and time that will be taken.

on the marketing function of Barclays Bank. According to the most of the people they are
agreeing with the fact and saying that in order to connect with most of its clients and to increase
its customer base company is using effective marketing strategies (Ali and Amin, 2014). In
addition to this, it can be recommended that because of the changing environment of market
areas Barclays Bank should make modification in their policies and strategies so that better
outcomes can be given to its clients. Along with this as with the help of the questionnaire it has
been analysed that organisation should make appropriate marketing strategies so that they can
influence other people as well who were disagreeing with the fact that Barclays Bank is not using
effective marketing strategies for customers and their clients. In addition to this, while making
strategies organisation must also make sure that cultural and ethical factors are taken care off so
that sentiments of an individual are not hurt.

In order to do this research there were many positive and negative outcomes which can
be faced by investigator. Therefore, in relation with this research, Barclays Bank has enhanced
its business activities because of which an increase in their rate of productivity has been seen due
to which customers are preferring to Barclays Bank for their financial activities. But with this, I
have also noticed that company has faced some drawbacks as because of highly competitive
world organisation has to make changes in their policies which can ultimately increase the
turnover of the company that can further resultant in increase in revenue consumption. Other
than this, while conducting this research I faced issue with limited resources such as revenues
and time this confined me for doing my research in an effective manner. In terms of research
outcomes with the help of this research my concept of globalisation has been cleared as I get to
know that it is not confined with only business purpose but it has to with culture and ethics as
well. Apart from this, globalisation also puts an impact on the marketing function of the
organisation as company had to made changes in the policies and its strategies so as to attract
more and more clients towards their organisation.
