TASK A
LO1
P1) Aim and objectives for the project
Overview
For effectively and successfully running a business and to manage its operations as per
current trend and situations prevailing in business environment regular market research is
essential. The main purpose of conducting any research is to determine and analysis the various
factors and understand the nature and behaviour of different stakeholders so that an appropriate

What can be the possible challenges and issues that are faced by an organisation because
of increasing equality and diversity at their workplace ?
What are the various measures which can be adopted by Sainsbury’s plc to resolve or
handle the challenges and problems of equality and diversity at workplace ?
P2) Project management plan
It is basically a written document that is used for providing guidance and facilitates
effective planning for each and every activity of project (Lin, Jalleh and Huang, 2019). It
includes detail information about commencement, execution, implementation, and monitoring,
controlling and finally closing process of project. Use of project management plan is made for
this research for effective planning regarding various aspects of research so that objectives can

be achieved on time. The various components or aspects of project management plan are as
follows:
Cost- This element basically shows the amount of expenses made on various activities of
research like cost of material used, employees, tools, etc. Cost of this research is estimated by
proper analysis of current market price and other aspects (Abdullah and Foo, 2019). The
inforamstion about budgeted cost of this research is provided in the following table:
Estimated Budget
Particulars Amount
Promotion expenses £100
Cost incurred in technology £150
Other Expenses £120
Total Cost £370
Time- This aspect mainly denotes the duration of time that is required to meet the
objectives of research. Time period needed for completion of any research is depends on the
efficiency of researcher and its team member. The time span required for completion of this
research is approximately 2 months.
Quality- This aspect includes the planning regarding the quality of research which
depends on the reliability and authenticity of data collected. To maintain the faithfulness and
authenticity of data gathered use of best suitable and efficient research methods are made which
include qualitative and quantitative research methods. Data is collected through making use of
both primary and secondary sources of data.
Communication- Maintenance of effective communication channels are necessary to
ensure the free flow of information. Use of both formal and informal channels of communiton is
made for this research which facilitates education in confusion and chaos (Vuorinen and
Martinsuo, 2019).
Risk- This element depicts the various issues and problems that can be faced while
conducting or performing any task. The possible risk associated with this research is mainly
related with lack of resources and insufficient time.
5

Resources- This factor includes the various assets and techniques which are used for
conducting or performing any research. Effective use of human resource, financial resource,
technical resource and other assets are made to achieve the targets of this research.
Scope- This research is helpful in enhancing various skills of researcher thus, provide
better future scope and ensure various opportunities in future. The chances of success of this
research are quite high as use of best possible resources and methods are made.
P3) Work breakdown structure and Gantt chart
Use of various project and time management tools is made by researcher to ensure the
completion of various stages and task within the provided timeframes. These tools are described
below:
Gantt chart- This time management tool provides graphical presentation for all stages and
task of project which provides clarity and transparency in work. It is a type of bar chart which
provides information about tasks to be informed on its vertical axis and on horizontal axis time
intervals are shown (Skjerven, 2019). Use of Gantt chart is made for this research as it clearly
depicts start and finish dates of the summery and terminal elements which ensure timely
completion of each task. It is also helpful in reducing cost of research through eliminating
wasteful activities.
6
Document Page
Work breakdown structure- It is a project mangemt tool which is used by manager or
researcher to properly allocate or divided a complex project into small sub task that work can be
efficiently performed and managed (Huovinen, 2019). WBS provides guidance or framework for
timely completion of work through properly assigning job roles and responsibility among various
team members and employees. Use of work breakdown structures is made for this research to
avoid the chances of duplication of work and to effectively allocate or divide work into various
teams so that objectives of research can be achieved on time and without any confusion and
chaos regarding any task of project.

P4) Research methodologies to achieve project aims and objective
Research methodologies basically represent a specific procedure or techniques which are
used to identify, collect and analysis a set of data related with a particular topic (Christian, 2019).
The main aim of any research is to analysis the data related with the various aspects of markets
and human behaviour to make an effective decision in favour of organisation. The two types of
research methods are described below:
Qualitative Research Method- This method of research is used for gathering or
collecting in depth information about behaviour, attitude and nature of respondent. Use of
interviews, surveys, observations, experiments etc is made under this research. Theoretical
data is collected by researcher which is hard to represent in form tables or chart and it is also
a time consuming process.
Quantitative Research Method- Under this method numerical or algebraic data is
collected to get a perception or idea about behaviour of respondent. Use of questionnaire,
polls, etc is made and this method is less time consuming method (Todorova, 2019 ). The
numerical data collected can be easily converted into tables and other graphical form.
Sources of data
This basically represents the main areas from where data is actually originated. There
are two main sources of data which are as follows:
Primary source- It represents the most authentic source from where data is actually
generated. This data is first hand and no modifications or changes are made by any
8
Document Page
past researcher. Use of interview, qustinnaries, etc is made to collected data from this
source.
Secondary source- Data collected from this source is used data and collected by
some other researcher for any past research. It is easily available in form of past
records, documents, literature, books, online site, etc. Thus, data collection from this
source is trouble-free and less time consuming (Doyle, 2019 ).
To maintain the authenticity of data use of both primary and secondary sources of data is
made for this research.
Sampling- It is a process through which a pre determined numbers of observations are
selected from a large population for effectively analysing collected data. It makes analysis
of findings easy and less complicated and time consuming. There are mainly two types of
sampling i.e. probability and non probability. Under probability method all observations
have chances of getting selected while under non probability method use of some scientific
method is made for selection of data.
For this particular research use of random sampling (a type of probability method) is
made to eliminate chances of biasness in selection process so that reliability of findings can
be maintain. For this research 20 respondents are selected from customers, employees and
other stakeholders of Sainsbury to get their views on topic of Equality and diversity. Use of
questionnaire is made for this research. Questionnaire provides a set of questions to evaluate
and understand the opinion of respondents.
