Topic- Identification of impact of gender inequality on the productivity and retention of
employees.
INTRODUCTION
Gender inequality refers a difference that men and women are not same or equal and it
affects their living experience. Whereas, workplace diversity refers an environment where all
level, age, sex, culture and ethnicity of people are being treated in an equal manner (Blau, 2016).
Gender inequality creates several problems when an organization discriminate their employees
on the basis of their gender. It is important for companies to focus on workplace diversity or
gender diversity by employing different culture and gender of people. It has several benefits as it
can increase morale of people and make them feel valued. UK workforce is becoming more
gender diverse than ever because they know the importance of gender diversity. On the other
hand, companies who are not gender diverse they face some problems like poor progression
prospects, bias, law suit etc.
BACKGROUND
Gender diversity plays an important role in an organization as it helps companies in
accomplishing their goals. This present study is based on Sainsbury’s which is the second largest
chain of supermarkets in the UK. It operates hypermarket, supermarkets, convenience shops etc.
This study is going to show importance of gender equality or diversity as how it helps companies
in accomplishing their goals (Hideg and Ferris, 2016). It will also show some barriers or
problems which may occur in an organization when they do not focus on gender equality or
discriminate workers on the basis of gender. Further, it will discuss importance of all elements or
project management plan as how it helps researcher in estimating time, cost and scope for
developing research. Research methodology also plays an important role which support scholar
in gathering and analysing informations relevant to the topic.
Aims and objectives
Aim- “To critically evaluate impacts of gender inequality on the performance of an organization.
A case study on Sainsbury’s”
Objectives
To analyze factors which are associated with gender inequality.
To identify importance of workplace diversity on the performance of company.
To evaluate impact of workplace inequality on employee’s retention and performance.

To recommend some ways to remove barriers and implement workplace diversity.
Research question
1. Which factors are associated with gender inequality?
2. What are some benefits of workplace diversity?
3. Which impacts does workplace inequality have on employee’s retention and
performance?
4. What are some ways to implement workplace diversity and decreasing all barriers which
workplace inequality have?
Rationale
It is stated that in the UK, workplace inequality or gap between gender workforces are
creating several problems. It decreases morale of female workers and also create barriers in the
path of the success of companies by limiting creativity and innovation. So, by developing
research on this topic all problems can be solved and can help companies in increasing their
productivity (Sharma, 2016).
Project management plan
A project management plan can be defined as a formal document which helps scholars and
companies in defining the way that how the project is executed and monitored (Chen, Kang and
Lee, 2017). Some elements of project management plan which plays an important role in
developing research or making it successful such as:
Cost
Cost is one of the main elements of project management plan which refers the value of
fund required for developing research. The main aim of developing this research is to identify
impacts which workplace inequality has on the performance of employees. For this researcher
require relevant informations and investment in technologies, employing human resources,
stationery. For all this it will require approximate $200 for completing all functions and solving
the main research problem.
Scope
Scope is one of the other elements of project management plan which shows the extent to
which this project can be helpful to students, organizations and others. It also refers investigation
areas for which informations relevant to the topic can be beneficial. In the context of workplace
diversity, it can be said that it can be beneficial at both academic and corporate level. Diversity is
