describes the way in which the project is required to be executed and controlled. This
project plan is not created only once rather it needs to regularly reviewed and changed
depending upon the different business conditions and objectives. There are various
elements and constituents which are required to be taken into account for developing project
plan of the British Telecom and they are discussed below :
Cost : Estimation of cost is a very important aspect while devising project
management plan. It helps in outlining the estimated cost, allocation and control of
cost for the required resources in order to complete all the activities and tasks. By
setting an estimated cost, the research of British telecom will be able to carry out
each and every activity of the business effectively and efficiently (Harvey and
Allard, 2015). Therefore, for conducting research the British Telecom will require an
estimated cost of £7000 and researcher will need approximately £2000 to conduct the
research and meeting day to day expenses like travelling, purchasing stationary, etc.
Scope : Scope in the project management plan is concerned with setting of an
standardisation for the company because every scope is unique in nature. It allows
the project managers of the British telecom to assign the right kind of work to the
right people in order to accomplish the goals and objectives. It signifies the
uniqueness and different features of the project.
Time : It is the referred to as the total time which is required to complete the
research. Every research is conducted for a particular purpose and when the
objectives of the research is accomplished then the research is ended. For this
purpose, the required time frame has been justified which helps the researcher to
complete the research on time. The British telecom will require 12 weeks of time to
develop project plans while researcher will need 6 weeks of time to complete the
research.
Quality : This aspect is concerned with determining the manner in which quality of
the project will be managed while through out the project. For the British telecom,
the products and services which are to be produced to satisfy the customers must be
of superior quality and performances while for the researcher, the gathered data and
information must be authentic, reliable, true, fair, etc. which will help in establishing
proper interpretation.

Communication : It is very important in the every aspect of business because
without effective communication people will not be aware of the work which is
required to be performed by them. For the British telecom, the various methods
which will be used to communicate includes telephones, e mails, video and voice
calling, conference calling, etc. which will help in making people clear about the
vision and mission of the company (Hillson, 2017). While researcher will use
communication methods like organising presentations, meetings, etc. to
communicate about the project and the manner in which they will attain the business
objectives.
Risk : It is an unanticipated of occurring of an event. Every business is associated
with different kind of risk that can affect the organisation significantly. A good and
effective project plan can face the risk in an appropriate manner while poor project
plan will have adverse impact of risk. It is highly important to develop measures
regarding most possible risk which the company can face. The British telecom will
face the risk of new products from competitors, changing climatic conditions,
government rules and regulations, etc. while researcher will face the risk of poor
response from people, conflict, lack of privacy, etc.

successfully implementing the project plan. For this purpose, the British telecom will
require ample of resources like finances, workforce, technology, etc. while researcher
will requires resources like relevant knowledge, skills, potential, motivation level,

tasks so that the work can be done in rapid manner and with more efficiency. It is a
hierarchical tree like structure where the brief of the project is mentioned and by breaking
them down in smaller and manageable sections helps in easy attainment of the work. It is

understandable projects for the company, effectively delegation of responsibilities to the
team of the projects, useful in making estimation of cost, time and risk, etc. It also act as a
foundation for the project plans and budgets. This also helps in accountability because all
the constituents of the work break down structure are regarded as mutually exclusive.

P4. Small scale research by applying qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Qualitative research : This type of research is exploratory in nature where it gains
the understanding of underlying reason, opinions and motivations. It helps in rendering
insights into the problems. It emphasises on obtaining data through open ended and
conversational communication. This method is established in such a way that it helps in
revealing the perception and behaviour of the targeted people. By applying this research, the
researcher of British Telecom can evaluate each and every content or substances of
information with greater details. This is because it is entirely based on experiences of human
beings and observations.
Quantitative research : This type of research is concerned with developing
quantifiable solutions to the different problems which requires numerical data or the content
can be transformed into usable statistics. By using this research tool, the British telecom will
be able to utilise mathematical, statistical and computational instruments in order to drive
the results. It helps in quick collection of data and allows the sampling of this research to
use random processes. This further offers reliable and relatable information and helps in
generalisation of the findings done with this research.
Data collection methods
There are two methods of collecting information and data which can be used by the
British telecom and they are discussed below :
Primary data collection : They are those methods of collecting information which
are collected for the first time by the researcher and have not been used or collected
previously. It includes, questionnaire, survey, focus groups, etc.
Secondary data collection : They are those data collection methods in which data
has already been collected previously and is used by the company for generating
results and outcomes. Such information are collected from internet, newspaper,
websites, magazines, etc.

level and in future I can commence the same research in more appropriate manner without
facing any difficulty.
