INTRODUCTION
Globalisation is the procedure through which the business can be formulated and
enlarged in the world wide market. It is the aspect of spreading anything through out the world
which helps in combination and physical phenomenon of different activities among the
numerous countries. The act of globalisation is useful for every business because it enhances the
sharing of ideas, knowledge, skills, manpower and other resources. For explaining the concept of
globalisation and the manner of managing the businesses, this report has taken a company which
is British Telecom and this company was first established and commenced its operation in the
year 1969 ( Bell and Harrison, 2018). The industry operates its businesses through out the world
and is indulge in producing ample of products and offerings which will satisfy the customers
needs and requirements. Some of the products are like fixed telephone services, mobile phones,
digital televisions, etc. This report will determine the project aims, objectives and time frames of
the company. It will conduct small scale research, information gathering and collection of data. It
also communicates appropriate recommendations which are based on meaningful conclusions
developed from and evidence.

INTRODUCTION
Globalisation is the process of spreading anything through out the world. In last few
years, the concept of globalisation has emerged immensely and have contributed in the
growth of the companies. The globalisation has impacted upon the various business factors
which has affected the company economically, politically, socially, etc. There are numerous
factors which have a crucial impact on the environment and have given rise to the
accelerating globalised trends through out the world (Crane and Matten, 2016). The primary
reason behind this kind of acceleration of activities is concerned with the demand and
requirements of the people, free trade of activities and globally acceptance of markets. It
helps the global market in considering it as one single market. Globalisation involves the

elimination of fiscal barriers and restrictions on the movement of goods, capital,
commodities, human resources, etc. It has the most crucial role in the business era.
Globalisation has a crucial impact on the developed countries. It has a favourable and
positive impact on the economic, cultural and ethical impact of globalisation on different
businesses. With the globalisation, the telecommunication industry of UK has become more
global industry with increasing competition. Apparently, the digitalisation and mobile
telecommunication, the British telecom has become more global and restructured the
industry. The major factors which has positively impacted the company is the rapid changes
in the technological advancements and growing understanding has liberalised the
telecommunication industry which is regarded as the growth for the company.

Project management plan is the written document which is prepared by the
management of the company. This department helps in ensuring a comprehensive standard
regarding what has to be accomplished and the manner in which it will required to perform
the task for attaining the set business objectives (Halibozek and Kovacich, 2017). Every
project of the company defines the story about their employees, objectives, timings,
deliverables and this necessitates the detailed and effective planning through which the
organisation is able to get their work done in an appropriate manner. This document of
project management plan is considered to be a formal document which is approved and

describes the way in which the project is required to be executed and controlled. This
project plan is not created only once rather it needs to regularly reviewed and changed
depending upon the different business conditions and objectives. There are various
elements and constituents which are required to be taken into account for developing project
plan of the British Telecom and they are discussed below :
Cost : Estimation of cost is a very important aspect while devising project
management plan. It helps in outlining the estimated cost, allocation and control of
cost for the required resources in order to complete all the activities and tasks. By
setting an estimated cost, the research of British telecom will be able to carry out
each and every activity of the business effectively and efficiently (Harvey and
Allard, 2015). Therefore, for conducting research the British Telecom will require an
estimated cost of £7000 and researcher will need approximately £2000 to conduct the
research and meeting day to day expenses like travelling, purchasing stationary, etc.
Scope : Scope in the project management plan is concerned with setting of an
standardisation for the company because every scope is unique in nature. It allows
the project managers of the British telecom to assign the right kind of work to the
right people in order to accomplish the goals and objectives. It signifies the
uniqueness and different features of the project.
Time : It is the referred to as the total time which is required to complete the
research. Every research is conducted for a particular purpose and when the
objectives of the research is accomplished then the research is ended. For this
purpose, the required time frame has been justified which helps the researcher to
complete the research on time. The British telecom will require 12 weeks of time to
develop project plans while researcher will need 6 weeks of time to complete the
research.
Quality : This aspect is concerned with determining the manner in which quality of
the project will be managed while through out the project. For the British telecom,
the products and services which are to be produced to satisfy the customers must be
of superior quality and performances while for the researcher, the gathered data and
information must be authentic, reliable, true, fair, etc. which will help in establishing
proper interpretation.

Communication : It is very important in the every aspect of business because
without effective communication people will not be aware of the work which is
required to be performed by them. For the British telecom, the various methods
which will be used to communicate includes telephones, e mails, video and voice
calling, conference calling, etc. which will help in making people clear about the
vision and mission of the company (Hillson, 2017). While researcher will use
communication methods like organising presentations, meetings, etc. to
communicate about the project and the manner in which they will attain the business
objectives.
Risk : It is an unanticipated of occurring of an event. Every business is associated
with different kind of risk that can affect the organisation significantly. A good and
effective project plan can face the risk in an appropriate manner while poor project
plan will have adverse impact of risk. It is highly important to develop measures
regarding most possible risk which the company can face. The British telecom will
face the risk of new products from competitors, changing climatic conditions,
government rules and regulations, etc. while researcher will face the risk of poor
response from people, conflict, lack of privacy, etc.
Resources : Every business organisation requires definite set of resources for
successfully implementing the project plan. For this purpose, the British telecom will
require ample of resources like finances, workforce, technology, etc. while researcher
will requires resources like relevant knowledge, skills, potential, motivation level,
strong communication and inter personal skills, etc.
From the above discussed points, it is summarised that project plan is not as easy as
it sounds. It requires various elements for successfully accomplishing business goals and
objectives (Kumar Basu, 2015). By adopting all these points effectively and efficiently, the
British telecom will be able to plan good and effective project management plan so that the
goals and objectives can be accomplished in more better and reliable manner.

Work break down structure
In work break down structure, the complex and larger task is divided in to small and
tasks so that the work can be done in rapid manner and with more efficiency. It is a

hierarchical tree like structure where the brief of the project is mentioned and by breaking
them down in smaller and manageable sections helps in easy attainment of the work. It is
important for creating work break structure in the projects because it ensures accurate and
understandable projects for the company, effectively delegation of responsibilities to the
team of the projects, useful in making estimation of cost, time and risk, etc. It also act as a
foundation for the project plans and budgets. This also helps in accountability because all
the constituents of the work break down structure are regarded as mutually exclusive.
Gantt chart
Gantt chart is the horizontal bar chart which visually represents the plan of the
projects. These charts helps in establishing the start and end dates of the various activities of
the projects (Lu, Plewa and Ho, 2016). Every organisation uses Gantt chart because it helps
in visualisation of the charts. This is one of the most crucial aspect of depicting various
events and tasks which will help in displaying time against each activity. These charts are
very helpful while planning for the projects. It helps in scheduling, managing and
