INTRODUCTION
This research project will aim to examine different area of diversity and equality at
workplace. It also particularly emphasis on how the diversity managed in working environment
or culture. Diversity and equality are highly relevant and based on the concept that ensure of
every employee has same type of access in terms of career development opportunities. The
diversity and inclusion strategy helpful for business that should place equal values on all people
within organization. It highlights the qualitative and qualitative methods to collect the required
data.
Background: Diversity is a concept that understand about the dealing with diverse socio-
economic culture and political. As Marks and Spencer is offering high quality of services to
customers and producing the superior products which are more focused on ensuring that
inclusive work culture and diversity that exists within organization. Sometimes, it will create the
sustain diverse which improving the work environment experience to improve productivity,
talent retention, job satisfaction, customer services. (Kollman, 2016). Diversity and equality are
important factor which improve the productivity and profitability of company. Workforce
diversity means that organization is becoming more heterogeneous mix of people in terms of
ethnicity, age, gender and race. It can be considered on the basis of citizenship and another way
it also identifies the performance of employee that successful completion of task in proper
manner. It is based on theoretical framework related workforce diversity as well as conceptual
framework which always showing the relationship between the depend and independent
variables as per investigation. Due to the Diversity and equality, it has changed the market
rapidly over recent years and now completing in global world. multinational companies are able
to select hire the candidates and provide equal right where they would implement new idea in
business growth and development. workforce diversity makes a huge impact on business
employee that put extra efforts within organization to achieve their goal and objectives by
enhancing and motivating the skills and morale of employees. The study presents the aim and
objectives and the different aspects of project management plan to complete the research project
effectively (Morshed, 2016). It highlights the different methods of conducting research and

present the data in systematic manner. Different tools and techniques of data collection provide
the accurate and reliable information.

Rationale
The purpose of research to understand about the concept of diversity and equality at
workplace (Li, 2015). It can be identified the diverse and inclusive workforce importance in
order to gain business goals and objectives, while improving the business productivity in global
marketplace. In this way, it easily identifies the challenges that occurs during the business
operations where employee doesn’t have an equal right to acheieve the specific goals and
objectives. The research project will outline the overall performance of organization in terms of

growth and development. In this way, it also determined the political and social threat that
directly affects on the business performance.
P 2 Project management plan
It is based on the procedure in the form of approved documents that identified how research
project can be executed, monitored and controlled in proper manner. It has summarised in details
document which may include baselines, planning documents and other subsidiary management.
It useful for researcher to understand the scope of project where how can be determined the
overall performance baselines.
 Cost: Cost of project refers to the cost incurred in collecting and presenting data. The
cost of the following project is £1000 which includes the cost of stationary, hardware,
laptops and travelling expenses etc.

 Scope: scope is defined the combined requirements and objectives to complete the
project within proper manner. The primary scope of the study is wide which is helpful for
both corporate and academic purpose (Halcomb and Hickman, 2015). The scope of the
study is to identify the various tools, techniques and methods of policies to improve
diversity at workplace. It also develops an effective environment so as provide equal right
of each employee.
 Time: In research project, time is mainly defined the duration in which all things happen
and instant that somethings to complete task within deadline. Researcher requires time to
gather the primary and secondary data. It is the important aspect of the project which help
to achieve the specific objective of research by reviewing assigned time for each activity
(Van Loon and et.al., 2017). According to the following project researcher requires 11 to
12 weeks to complete the activities.

 Quality: It is a process of providing Assurance in project quality to collect accurate
information or data. The secondary data help to assure quality by reviewing the views of
different authors and collecting information from the various published articles and
websites (Kusters, 2016). It should be maintaining the quality of project through
Feedback from the tutor after drafting the proposal also help to assure the quality of
project. Proofreading helps to consider all important aspect of the project. It is the best
way to identify the entire quality of project.
Control chart: It is mainly representing the graph that used to understand overall process
of project development over time. data can be represented in particular time order and
also shown central line, upper line and upper control line.
Flow chart: It is a type of process that represents workflow of entire project. It can be
defined the diagrammatic representation in step by step approach to resolve a task in
proper manner.
 Communication: it is an appropriate medium to exchange information from place to
another by using different resources such as email, questionnaire, personal interview,
group discussion. Communication with the respondents are the important aspect of the
study. It also helps to assure the quality of the project (Takey and de Carvalho, 2015). It
can be done by questionnaire, emails, personal interview, group interview etc. The above
report uses the questionnaire method to communicate with the respondent and get their
views regarding the research project.

 Risk: Limited resources and budget of the project reflects the research by getting limited
information because researcher are bounds to complete the research in given budget. The
following project faces various risk in conducting the research (Lock, 2017). Due to the
limited time researcher only focus on the key factors of workforce diversity and equality
rather than to getting deeper knowledge. It can be identified potential risk within project
such as financial, technical and external risks. These are important risk that require to
identify during project execution. The suggested to manage risk by implementing an
effective strategy for reducing risk within organization.
 Resources: Effective research requires various resources to get the desired outcomes.
The desirable resources used in research such as financial, equipment, manpower, laptop,
stationary, hardware tools, human resource and access of online sites to conduct proper
research. The origin of resources are outsides the organization that can use in different
departments.

P 4 Research methodology
it is type of techniques and tool for finding the direction of the project. It defines the
project in systematic manner to do each and every activity in defined steps. It can be conducted
different steps to review the research project for identifying objective in case study. The steps of
research methodology are:
 Research design: The research of the project broadly classified in two category
quantitative and qualitative research. Qualitative research helps to get the deeper
knowledge about the subject area without getting the data. It applicable to gain the proper
understanding of the various data, reasons and motivation (Kumar, 2019). Quantitative
research uses the various data and fact for the accuracy and reliability of the information.
The research on globalisation is based on quantitative and qualitative methods.
Researcher uses the questionnaire method to collect the quantitative data and
enquire to the respondents to get qualitative information. It helps the researcher to get the
accurate information from the different respondents and check the accuracy and
reliability.
 Research approach: It is the process which contains the information regarding the
methods of data collection and suggest the best method to collect data according to the
nature of the research. There are two approaches of conducting research: inductive and
deductive approach (Mackey and Gass, 2015). Deductive approach is based on the
hypothesis of the data or the available information while the inductive research is based
on new theories generate from the different data. Deductive research start from the
hypothesis and the relevant methods are used to test the hypothesis and make decision
while in inductive approach researcher observe the situation and then move toward
generalisation and ideas. It means in inductive approach researcher use the observations
to set the theory or abstraction (Deductive Approach (Deductive Reasoning), 2019).
As per the above research inductive research is the best method because the researcher
uses the quantitative data for conducting research. It helps researcher to formulate new
theory based on the collected information.

 Research philosophy: It is based on the assumptions as well as belief of the researcher
while collect, analyse and interpret the data from the different sources. It can be
conducted in positivism and interpretivism way. In positivism philosophy the role of
researcher is only limited to the data collection and data interpretation (Silverman, 2016).
It is based on the facts collected through the observation and measurement of data. The
researcher has minimal interaction with the respondents in positivism research
philosophy. Interpretivism philosophy is based on the interviews and observation method.
According to the above study researcher used the interpretivism philosophy.
 Data collection: it can be done by primary and secondary method. In primary method
data are collected by interview, observation and focused group interview while the
secondary data are already collected by different researcher and readily available on the
different sites, newspaper and magazines (Flick, 2015). According to the above research
researcher use the primary data collection method by collecting the data through survey
method via questionnaire. Researcher uses the primary data method because it helps them
to gather and interpret the accurate information from the respondents. The primary data
can be collected by the qualitative and quantitative method. Here researcher use both
qualitative and quantitative data to gather and interpret the information.
 Sampling: Sampling of the data help to select the sample from the wide range of
population. Researcher can use various sampling method to gather data from respondents
such as probabilistic and non-probabilistic method. In probabilistic sampling researcher
select sample by random sampling in which researcher provide equal chance to each
sample. In non-probabilistic sampling researcher use the convenience, quota, purposive
and multi-stage sampling (Quinlan and et.al., 2019). Purposive sampling is used to select
the sample for the specific purpose, characteristics and objective of the study. It helps the
researcher to get more clear and effective answer from the respondents. By using non-
probabilistic sampling method to gather the data. In non-probabilistic sampling
researcher use purposive method. The study of identifying the ways to improve training,
recruitment and selection process requires analyse the views of the manager or employees
of multinational company. That's why researcher use the purposive method of sampling.
The sample size of the research study is 25 managers of Marks and Spencer company to

evaluate the diversity and equality at workplace. There are 25 respondents participate
in the questionnaires and give their own opinion towards the workforce equality.
On the other hand, 3 participates in the open-ended interviews to give own
opinion.
 Data analysis: Data analysis can be done by applying the different tools and techniques
to evaluate the gathered data. It can also be done by preparing themes, graphs and
interpretation. Here the researcher uses the thematic method to analyse the data (Fletcher,
2017). In which they prepared themes on the basis of questionnaire and present them by
different graphs such as bar graph, pie chart, histogram, line graph etc. The interpretation
of data helps to evaluate the information from the presented graphs for the better
understanding of viewers.
 Limitation: The limitation of the research refers to the difficulties faced by the
researcher while conducting the research. Due to the lack of resources researcher conduct
its study to the limited area and choose limited sample but researcher use the purposive
sampling method to get the accurate data from the research. The limited budget and time
of the project also restrict the area of research. But to minimize the impact of limited
budget and time researcher use the Gantt chart and time line to schedule each and every
activity of the research and set the time for different activities (Taylor, Bogdan and
DeVault, 2015). It helps researcher to review the project time to time and complete the
activities in prescribed time to get the effective outcomes.
 Ethical consideration: It is the important aspect of the research study. Ethics helps to
differentiate between the right and wrong things. In research project researcher has to
undertake the various aspect to maintain the ethics while conducting the research. To
maintain the ethical aspect of the project they fill up the consent form to get the
permission regarding the research. The accuracy and originality of the data are also
important to maintain the ethics. Here researcher use the official websites of the different
company to get the review of different manager and to provide the accurate data.
Researcher considers the ethical aspect to maintain and control the reliability of gathered
data.

P 5 Discussion and analysis
It is defined as a process that used in research case studies for identifying opinion of each
employee within organization. it can perform different operations such as inspect, transform in
proper manner. It consists of various type approaches that applicable in research project to
improve depth knowledge about facts. It is the most suitable technique to collect and identify the
information about the workforce diversity and equality at workplace.

been concluded that 48% employees believe that workforce diversity within the 1 to 3 months
which help them to adopt the challenges in the market and get new skills to develop their ability
to achieve the organisation aims and objectives. 28% employees think that workforce diversity
should be improved culture or environment conducted in 3 to 6 months’ time interval so it does
not affect the daily work and 24% employees believe that it always gives free to equal rights
within organisation and improve global environment by using strategies after every 6 months.

are agreed that the statement to perception of departmental staff members related to the impact of
diversity and inclusion initiatives which improve sustainable productive work environment and
culture. It helps the company to get the benefits in global market. 20% employees are highly
agreed to increase an effective environment where staff member share their own idea in business
development and 12% employees are neutral. The neutral employees think that some time
perception of employee related the impact of diversity review become neutral but some time it
creates problems in the company. 205 employees are disagreed and 16% employees are highly
disagreed with the decision of statement.

technology. 20% employees think that lecture method is the best method because it is less costly

employees believe in management program and 12% believe in diversity management which
directly increase the productivity and profitability of organization in marketplace.

operations and functions. it also improved the overall business performance in global

worker motivation. 24% employees think that it brings skilled labour across the world and also
24% employees believe that due to the internal conflicts in company also increases. Because
most of the employees are already adjust with the existing environment, it brings the new

employees with different culture, background and beliefs which increases conflicts. 20%
employees think that due to the globalisation which increase organizational performance.

that it is the best approach to improve performance due to the educational diversity because it
always support to use technology in knowledge improvement, the most of the candidates use the
advance methods and techniques to search the job and it also reflects the detail information of the
candidates. 20% employees believe in other source of employee performance while 24% believe
that it doesn’t established a relationship because it increases the challenges which effects on the
employee performance. Rest of the 20% employees think that it is beneficial in terms of
performance enhancement.

out of the 25 respondents are thought that personal interview process is the best method to done
the workforce diversity which considered as a key concept because it can be divided work into
different employee in organization. it also reflects the candidate’s true position and its abilities

process is the best method because it reflects the ability and knowledge of candidates about the
particular subject area.

Interpretation : As per the research on the ways to improve the training, recruitment and
selection process 40% employees thought that cultural diversity is the most challenging part
because cultural diversity brings various changes in the values, thoughts and beliefs of the
employees. 32% employees believe that they have to face the technological barriers in the
training, recruitment and selection process while 28% employees think that due to the
globalisation the retention of existing employees increases because they are not satisfied with the
concepts of diversity in global world.
Themes 9 : Marks and Spencer selection process aims to bring the skilled workforce with
advance technology knowledge after operating business in global market.
Data Interpretation: Most of the employees thought that due to the advance technology the
selection process of the employees is improved. Now the aim of the Marks and Spencer company
is to select those candidates which have skilled with the advance technology knowledge so they
can easily adopt the changes and work towards the goal of the company. Few employees think
that globalisation does not bring major changes in the selection process while rest of the

employees think that in some situation globalisation helps to select the right candidates for the
right job with right timing and some time it creates problems in selection process.

implementation of diversity management programmer within organizations.
Data Interpretation: through research most of the employees recommend that Marks and
Spencer can also use the audio/visual interview or campus interview method to analyse about the
concept of diversity management. The audio/visual interview helps to recruit the employees from
the different places or global market which brings the experienced persons with the variety of
skills. While some employee recommends that to improve their performance for managing their
own right to do their work in efficient manner. In order to meet the business expectation and
improve performance of employee within Marks and Spencer. Rest of employees recommend to
plan an effective strategy that can handle entire management program in efficient ways

RECOMMENDATION
It has recommended that gender-based diversity holds more importance in Marks and
Spencer while promoting the female employees (Morshed, 2016). It always gives an equal right
of male and female at workplace without any discrimination because it directly impacts on the
business environment or culture. In this way, all employees are working together to share their
own idea, thoughts related business development. From the above research it has been
recommended that Marks and Spencer influence with workforce diversity for treated equally on
basis of gender, sexually at workplace. It is beneficial for organization to increase productivity
and profitability in global marketplace. on the other hand, it also tends to make higher quality
decision that impact on the Marks and Spencer bottom line by increasing creativity in terms of
decision making.
Gender based quality approach will be applied within organization because it satisfied
employee and perceive they are being against with discrimination which tend to improve quality
of services. (Lopa, 2019). In Marks and Spencer, it has a better way to manage diverse force
which required to implement concept of diversity management program that increased stock
price on daily basis.

CONCLUSION
In discussion on research it has been concluded that researcher conducted the research on
the diversity and equality concept of Marks and Spencer and able to achieve its aims and
objectives by adapting various strategies. It can be implementing an effective strategy which
improve overall performance of employee in global world. In order to achieve the organizational
expectation. It can also be concluded that researcher efficiently use the qualitative and
quantitative data while gathering the information from the employees of Marks and Spencer. The
questionnaire method helps to conclude the information and present them in different graphs
format for the better understanding of viewers.

P 7 Reflection
REFLECTION
In above research I found that diversity and equality has changed the market rapidly over
recent years and now completing in global world. Multinational companies are able to select hire
the candidates and provide equal right where they would implement new idea in business growth
and development. To complete the research and get effective result firstly I set the aims and
objectives of the research and take the help of tutor to start my research with the right base. The
project management plan helps me to understand the requirement of resources, cost, time,
quality, communication etc. to conduct the research with the given budget and resources.
On the other hand, for collecting data or information by using qualitative method which
is the most interesting part of the whole research. It reflects my own ability and knowledge in
conducting the research and understand the different aspect of the project. The most challenging
part of the whole research is data collection part. In data collection I use the both qualitative and
quantitative method to communicate with the respondents. But the best thing is that the
respondents are supportive, they willingly answer my questions and help me to get the deeper
knowledge about the workforce diversity methods of Marks and Spencer company. To the above
research it also determined about the entire research project and also able to achieve my aims &
objectives and develop the understanding of diverse group and its impact on Marks and Spencer.
For achieving the project, I always make an efficient plan which helps for me to
identifying step by step resources that require for project completion. First of all, I learnt about
the concept of workforce diversity and various type of issues that generated within organization.
I also conducted the session of interviews and questionnaire for gathering or collecting
information about research project where how diverse and inclusive workforce importance for
business that help for achieving business objectives. During planning process, I have learnt about
the different types of discrimination exists within organization which directly affects on the
employee performance and functionality. In this way, I have determined the strategies which will
help for improving the quality of services and further make a plan to eliminate issues. I also
identify that many organizations equally treated to their employee without any discrimination
and only focused on the quality where how employee handle any critical situation in business
operations.
