INTRODUCTION
Business performance is the only aspect that assists the entities to reach towards the defined
goals and objectives and through this, business can also survive in competitive market place.
Managing business activity is all about management of activities occurs in organization (Shen,
2008). The concept is also termed as the process of enhancing business performance level on higher
extent. The present research study has been made on University of London where in the principal
has undertaken different activities to manage all the functions and processes in effective manner.

Long term business success and profitability is directly related to the strength and quality of
business process and alongside, it enhances the scope of business growth and prosperity. University
of London has different functions and departments which manages different functions and processes
and which also aids the university to allocate all the resources in organizational practices. The main
aim of the university is to deliver proper services to the students and the university also desires to
enhance the standard of education among people (Pagano, 2006). The university follows proper
structure to manage all the roles and duties and the chain of command is followed in centralized
way where in top authority is accountable to delegate duties to all the subordinates. Different
departments in the university are human resource department, financial department, administration
department and employee training department. All the departments have been working in integrated
manner so that university's performance ability can be underpinned (McCollum, 2004).

The chief aim of the university is to make sure that all the students are getting adequate and
quality knowledge. Further, the university aims to augment the standard and quality of education
through recruiting efficient and talented personnel. Around 2000 students are there in the university
and more than 300 personnel are working with the college (Hubbard and Love, 2004). HR
department of the college is entitled to recruit educated and skilled personnel and they further
deliver prominent services to the students which increases financial ability of the university.
Administration department manages all the office work and this helps in overall management and
as a result, proper records are maintained.

students. The main objective of the university is to emphasize on innovative and quality processes
so that student's ability can be augmented Hillier and et.al., 2009). The university has been
following proper process map where in organizational process is integrated to each other so as to
reach towards the defined aims and objectives. University of London has been following a process
map where in description has been made regarding all the activities and which also assists the
university to manage every practice in adequate manner.
The particular process map aids the university to adopt new aspects so that better outputs
can be acquired (Healy and Dugdale, 2009). Quality gateway is an organizational point through
which all the requirements must be adequately managed to increase the efficiency of organizational
processes. In such respect, University of London has been following the concept of quality gateway
where in people work together and they test all the work processes as per the standards determined.
Hence, all the elements of quality gateway are followed by the university.

authorities and this develops adequate schedule for organizational processes.
 The university has been promoting goals and objectives through emphasizing on quality and

proper education services. Further, all the activities are managed on adequate time basis so
that standard of studies can be developed.
 The university also develops proper plans while making any change in the existing practices
or while adopting any new provision for the university.
 Proper monitoring and controlling is also required so that the areas of improvement and
changes can be identified (Feilder, Yarker and Lewis, 2008).
 While promoting the services, university of London make sure that all the legal and

education and for that only skilled and talented workforce are recruited. Further, all the

syllabus can be adopted (Everson and Zhang, 2000). Measurable: In order to measure the university standards, number of students who take
admission in the university are identified and on that basis, efficacy of university's services
can be ascertained. Achievable: Goals are achievable because the university emphasizes on delivering quality
education to the students. Hence, number of admissions have been increasing and this also

requirements of students, personnel have been adopting new ways of learning so that they can teach
the students in proper manner (Bradshaw, 2005). Further, the university can also use Zero Base
Budgeting method where in investment is required to be made on company's activities within
proper budgets.

adequate standards as benchmarks and on that basis, performance level can be identified (Bonehill,
2011). Hence, for proper operational management, it is vital for the university to allocate all the
roles and responsibilities adequately as that can also aid in maximizing resource management
capability. Proper procedure has been determined for the students when they visit the university for
admission purpose. The university has separated all the activities in proper manner so that every
department can manage their roles adequately. Similarly, as per organizational structure, effective
monitoring is facilitated in all the departments so that the areas of changes and improvements can
be found out.

University of London provides numerous facilities to the students; hence for such aspect the
entity assure that all the services are risk free and are not hazardous for the students (Ford, 2010).
