INTRODUCTION
Managers of business entity have to do proper management on their operational activities
which will helps in attaining success and also in doing improvements. If they are using continual
improvement process then they can put more efforts which will assist in improving products and
services by adopting appropriate processes (Reason, 2016). If this procedure used by business
entity, then this will aid in boosting efficiency and effectiveness to fulfil its policy along with
objectives. Present report is based on Morrison which is a supermarket and market share of firm
is approx. 11%. In the below mentioned report, discussion based on features of organisational
culture which assist in encouraging and also allowing for continuous improvements.
TASK 1
1.1 Feature of culture which encourage to continuous improvements
The manager of business entity has to develop its human resources which assist in
improving organisation culture. Culture of Morrison’s refers to customs along with the values
which defines behaviour of workers and decision which they are making. If manager of firm
improves their human resources, then this will assist in identifying solutions of problems which
they are facing. When they are adopting appropriate culture then this will assist in doing
innovation for continuous improvements (Continuous improvement in your organisation: How to
lead it, 2016). Human resources of Morrison are developed by providing training which will aid
in maintaining skills for attaining aim of business entity. The main features of organisational
culture include:
 Rewards for identifying solution for problems and decision making: Staff members of
enterprise identify creative solutions of different obstacles which they are facing and also
making correct decisions. To motivate employees, rewards are provided to them as a
incentives so that they become more creative in contributing to business.
 Continuous improvement: Company having an organisational culture that they have to do
constant development of products and services. Betterment is a never ending process and
it provides opportunity for Morrison to evaluate its merchandise on a regular basis
(Bourne, 2016).

 Constantly innovate: Innovation is necessary for success of firm and it assist in
maintaining its competitive advantage. Along with this it also helps in motivating
employees in continuous improvements.
1.2 Approaches which facilitate introduction and acceptance of change
There are distinctive approaches which helps managers of firm in accepting different
changes so that they can maintain their competitive advantage. Different approaches include:
Education and communication: This will assist in informing employees which will be
included in change process and on the basis of that they can collect information which is
provided by organisation so that all things become inaccurate (Lam, O'Donnell and Robertson,
2015). They have to do effective conversation which can be supported by training. Employees
have to do understand purpose by using change process and which will be more inclined to be
cooperative.
Participation and involvement: For increasing involvement of employees of Morrison,
they have to provide specific tasks so that resistance of organisational change can be reduced.
Facilitation and support: The staff members of Morrison have to share experience with
adjustment problems during change process so that they can attain maximum benefit. The
manager has to provide proper support to deliver training and development along with the
counselling so that all problems can be removed.
Negotiation: In this group may lose out because of change where individual person has a
power which is to be considerable to resist. Managers of Morrison have to provide incentives to
them so that they can resist changes (Continuous Improvement Strategies for Great Results,
2017).
Co-optation and manipulation: In this other tactics will not work and they are too
expensive. It involves person into change management planning group so that they can provide
proper contribution which will helps in attaining success.
Explicit and implicit coercion: In this, important factor which is essential is speed. When
manager of Morrison accepting changes which can be explicitly or implicitly so that resistance to
change can lead to job loss, employee transfers.
1.3 Approaches to continuous quality improvement
For business entity, there are distinctive approaches which can be adopt by manager of
Morrison so that they can improve quality on a constant basis and they are:

Total Quality management: It is an approach which help them in managing quality of
products. In this managers have to use multi-functional teams so that they can identify, analyse
and solve problems so that they can improve quality (Lewis, 2016). For improving quality,
manager can conduct training session so that they can develop or increase knowledge and
provide better services to their consumers.
Six Sigma: This method is also taken in use by them and in this staff members of
Morrison have to define problem, measure, analyse along with implementation and control. This
approach works on assumptions that all variables is necessary in attaining targets that is to
improve quality on a continuous basis.
Lean: This approach assists in identifying and analysing consumer needs and raising
process to eliminate activities that do not add value to consumers (Singh and Singh, 2015). This
method assists in decreasing waste material and according to that they can improve their business
performance.
Quality circle: It is also included in methods of improving quality. In this manager of
Morrison have to form a team’s so that they can identify problems and resolve them in their
work area. This will help firm in reaping success in competitive market.

and they are:
Directive: It having a primary objective of immediate compliance that it assists in controlling
employees and motivate by threats as well as discipline. This style is effective when deviations
are risky.
Authoritative: This style having an objective of providing long term direction along with the
vision for employees of Morrison (Zingg and et. al., 2015). It motivates staff members to take
feedback on performance of task.
Coaching: This management style having an objective that is they have to provide long term
professional development to their employees. When manager of Morrison provides training to
them. Then, it provides help to employees in developing their strength and on the basis of that
they can improve their performance.

Continuous improvement is necessary as it helps in allocating time to employees of
Morrison so that they can participate in group work. For development continuous training should
be provided by using appropriate tools and techniques. The main importance of continuous
improvement is it assist in reducing waste through lean production as well as faster response
time (Koivupalo and et. al., 2015). It decreases rework time and becomes more competitive by
driving down costs. It assists in gaining service users through innovative products and services
which help in attaining goals and objectives. Along with this it also aids in reaping success by
continuous improvement of quality.
TASK 2
2.1 Sources of information used by organisation
For collecting sources of information for organisation to identify that where
improvements are needed that they can use:
Feedback: It is a method which helps in collecting information for the company that
where improvements needs to be done. It assists in collecting data about products and services
and performance of person. It is used by Morrison to collect information about their products and
services and also in which area improvements needs to be done so that they can attain targets.
Analysis of financial data: Staff members of Morrison have to analyse their financial
records which includes income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement etc. This will help
in identifying that how much expenditure is done by employees in a month or in a year (Stark,
2015). If they are analysing balance sheet, then they may identify their assets and liabilities.
Along with this by cash flow statement they can identify remaining cash so that they can
decrease their creditors.
Market research: Manager of Morrison have to do market research so that they can
identify and analyse needs of consumers. According to that they have to deliver products and
services so that they can attain goals and objectives as well as generate more revenue. By this
research, employees can find areas where they can make changes.
2.2 Meaning of big data and its contribution
Big data refers to sets of data which is extremely large which can be utilised to reveal
patterns, trends along with associations and that are related to human behaviour as well as

interactions. It includes structured, semi-structured and unstructured data which having a
potential to use information. When employees of Morrison using big data than it gives
contribution to improvement strategies which the business entity is following. It helps in
identifying opportunities and threats. It assists in improving core operations as they are using big
data to improve performance. To improve business, they have to take risk so that they can
generate more revenue. It is having an impact on stage of implementation so that they can put
focus on their efforts as well as determine priorities. When staff members using big data then this
will assist in identifying big data resources along with gaps (Jurburg and et. al., 2015). The
employees have to identify opportunities and to attain that appropriate resources should be used
by them. In this strategies of data should interlink with overall strategy so that they can
accomplish desired results. When big data is used by them in companies then threats and
opportunities identified and for that implications needs to be done and on the basis of that they
can attain success.

improvements so that they can accomplish targets. The employees have to collect data by using
appropriate sources The staff members of Morrison should review analyse information which
they are generated from sources so that they cannot face any issues which will aid in attaining
success (Fu and et. al., 2015). There are different areas which needs to be developed which
includes production area so they have to improve quality of products and services which assist in
increasing sales. When they are generating more and more units of products then cost of
merchandise decreases and according to that they can generate more and more revenue. Another
area is finance department which needs to be improved as they have to make proper and
appropriate budgets so that they can make correct expenditures. In addition to this, area is human
resources manager of Morrison have to provide proper training and guidance to their employees
which will aid in attaining success in competitive market.

Changes is necessary for employees so that they can do work in a better quality and
improves performance. When employees of Morrison make changes in the firm so that they can
attain maximum benefits. The employees bring changes by using new and innovative ideas as
well as opportunities and that is important part of the firm. Benefits includes:

 They have to do promotion of new ways of thinking which will assist in attaining benefits
by doing innovation and creativity.
 The staff members of Morrison have to present new opportunities in a better way by
providing training and development to their team members which assist in increasing
productivity and performance.
 Changes can require employees to use new skills and fulfil their duties. The manager of
Morrison has to provide training to learn new software along with methods so that they
can complete task in a specific time. It will aid in encouraging growth of skills as well as
knowledge (Molina-Azorín and et. al., 2015).
 When changes are completed in business entity then it will provide encouragement to
employees to improve performance in market. The manager has to provide positive
environment so that they can retain for a long time and also provide best services to their
consumers. Sometime, employees facing problems while doing work then they have to
resolve that obstacle which will helps in boosting performance. When changes done it
become challenge to all employees which is a positive outlook.

There are certain steps to implementing changes are described as below:
Management support for change: It is not necessary that they support for change but if they do
then it creates comfort level among their workers.
Case for change: It will come through various sources, may include data collection, customer’s
satisfaction survey, clients comment cards as well as business goals. Company can utilise these
data for their improvement as well as to take initiative for change.
Employee involvement: In an association, every type of alternation needs support from their
labours. It may include modification in work process and improve buyer’s satisfaction. Thus,
they can perform their task effectively as well as efficiently (Bourne, 2016).

Communicating the change: It must be done in a systematic way, employer has to
communicate about alternations to their staff members. But if there is poor conversation system
then it may generate rumours.
Implementation: It must be done in an effective way so that company can attain their goals and
objectives. But if it not done systematically then it may create frustration.
Follow up: It must be done by manager so that they can get desired outcomes, and if there is any
need of modifications then they can do it immediately (Fu and et. al., 2015).
Removing barriers: When employer implement change, then they can face various
obstructions. Thus, it is essential for superiors to remove them instantly.
Celebrate: When changes are made appropriately, then it necessary to celebrate success for
company. If only small alterations made, but they attain big achievement then it must be noted
that, employees of firm doing their work very effectively as well as efficiently.

From the above report, it has been analysed that they have to use appropriate
organisational culture which assist in encouraging to employees for continuous improvement.
While doing acceptance of change different approaches should be used by them and also to be
analyse in a proper manner. For improvement of quality evaluation needs to be done by using
relevant approaches and on the basis of that they can attain goals and objectives. When staff
member of Morrison collects information by using sources and these data assist in identifying
areas where they want to do improvements. The manager of Morrison has to use big data as it
assists in improving strategies which staff members of firm is following.
