INTRODUCTION
Leadership refers to a process of ongoing relationship among followers and leaders in order to
attain goals of company (Avery and Cleaver, 2021). It is an important approaches which is
adopted by managers of company in order to influence behaviour of employees for attainment of
business objectives. This poster presentation describe leadership and its approaches.
TASK
Leadership and its approaches
Leadership can be defined as ability of an individual or a person to influence and guide
behaviour of different members of organisation. They needs to made various sound decision in
an organisation for purpose of creating, articulating vision, development of different goals,
providing knowledge and information to employees for attainment of goals (Finnell, 2018). It is
important for various reason as it allow a person to provide clear guidance to employees,
encourage creativity in organisation, improving motivation of employees and communicating
with them in order solve their problems. There are different approaches of leadership which are
mentioned below:
Authoritarian leadership: Authoritarian leadership style is one in which which leader improve
their expectation over others and also define outcome. It is best suited in situation where leader
has proper knowledge about team. It is effective in situation where there are less time available
for completion of a work.
Participative leadership: Participative leadership style is one of leadership which involve
different members in process of decision making. In this, team members are feel more satisfied,
engaged and motivated for giving their contribution. It is time consuming process as there is
disagreement occur in members of organisation.
Delegative leadership: Delegative leadership is one of leadership approaches which is also
known as Laissez faire leadership (Livingstone, 2020). It is focusing on delegating initiative to
different team members. It can be successful strategy in situation where different members of
team are competent and are ready to take various responsibility. But there are various
disagreement occur in members of team which can result in split in group.
Transactional Leadership: Transactional leadership is one which is using transaction among
leaders as well as their followers in form of punishments, rewards and other exchange. In this,

leader set clear goals and for attainment of these goals, team members will get rewards. It is also
considered as give an take leadership style which is concerned with following a routine as well
as procedure in effective manner and also ready to make transformational changes in
organisation.
Transformational leadership: Transformational leadership style is one which inspire to
followers of company with a vision and also encourage for attainment of these vision (Peate,
2019). It provide various benefits to an organisation as it place more values to corporate vision of
company and also consist use of different motivation for getting support from employees.
Leadership theories
Trait theory of leadership is one which explains that individual is compose of different set of
predisposition attributes which are traits. These traits can be distinguishable and also be be
considered as long lasting quality of a person which helps them to differentiate them from others.
There are two main theories in this including Allport's Trait theory and Cattell trait theory.
Allport's Trait theory: it is one of theory of leadership which is introduced by Gordon Allport
and is explained that personality of a person can be understand and analyse through a difference
among personal disposition and common traits (Tiwari and Buse, 2020). There are some traits
and personal disposition which make a person unique. Some of these traits are mentioned below:
Cardinal Traits: It is one of powerful trait which can be posses by a personality and can be
dominated through a single trait.
Central Traits: These are trait which are general characteristics that can be posses through
individual in different degrees. It concludes traits are loyalty, kindness, agreeableness and
loneliness.
Secondary Traits: It is another trait which reflect reason for which a person behave in unique
manner in compare to usual behaviour.
Cattell's Trait Theory: It is one of theory which is introduced by Raymond Cattell. In this
theory, it is sample of a numbers of different various that should be studies and also has proper
understanding of personality of individual. There are different personality factors including
warmth, tension, liveliness, sensitivity, reasoning, self reliance and many more.
CONCLUSION
From above mentioned project report, it can be concluded that leadership is one of important
aspect in context of an organisation. It helps them to provide guidance to different members of
