INTRODUCTION
Motivation is an important tool that work to stimulate the efforts to the employees in
workplace in the right direction. Motivation just work like rendering a promotional tool that
makes employees happy and they are able to work more productivity. Motivation works the right
way that boost the inner stimulation from external motivational tool that brings out best from any
of the employees. It is important to develop motivation tool in any organisation. to support the
data with relevant examples, this report covers is in the context of Marks and Spencer which is
multinational organization based out of UK, which was found in 1884 by Michael
Marks and Thomas Spencer, headquartered in London, UK. The company delivers different
products and services which involves apparels, food services, banking services, home
improvement tools. This report covers different motivational tools adopted by Marks and
Spencer and relevant theories of motivation applied in the workplace (Hur, Moon and Jun,
2016).

Determine the theories of motivation and how to apply in modern workplace
Motivation is an important tool that rightly works to maintains highly efficient workforce
in an organisation. Motivation involves consideration of different factors that involves positive
working environment, financial and non-financial incentives, employee relationships and others.
the human resource manager in Marks and Spencer adopts different motivational tools that right
meets the employee expectation in the workplace that involves applying different motivational
theories that supports motivational strategies that needs to be emphasized in the workplace.
Human resource manager applies Maslow’s needs hierarchy of motivational theories as different
employee possess different need that has to be analyzed. One of the two employees might not
have similar needs, for some it might be financial needs but for some it might be non-financial
needs (Khan and Wajidi, 2019). Thus, applying Maslow’s need hierarchy helps to determine
needs of each employee at the workplace. Maslow’s need hierarchy need involves physiological
needs, safety needs, social needs, esteem needs, self-actualization needs. Maslow’s need
hierarchical needs determine that an individual move to the other above needs as far as he/she
