Emotional Intelligence is a very important factor as it gives a person the ability to think
considering the emotions of the people. Human race are particularly able to contemplate and
emotions play a significant role. Hence, having a higher emotional intelligence helps an
individual to have a better control on their actions as well as an understanding the people around
them (Capozzoli, 1995). Personality types, on the other hand, is also important in analyzing the
behavior of people. It helps one to delve into the psyche of humans that eventually assist one in
the better understanding thereby nurturing relationships.
Understanding personality types at workplace is much needed as it helps in the
assessment of individual characteristics by trying to understand their perspective and acting
accordingly. A leader can use this information of one’s personality and can direct it towards
enhancing their scopes and abilities. Getting an insight into other’s strengths, weakness and
behavioral pattern can provide an empathetic approach which thereby leads to the strengthening
of emotional intelligence. Conflict may arise during different circumstances. A fair knowledge of
one’s type can help an individual in dealing with that properly. Moreover, it gives an idea on
how to respond in that particular situation understanding the psyche of the other person (Sikes,
Gulbro, & Shonesy, 2010). Assessing a personality type and trying to resolve an issue can lead to
its effective closure without further conflict. It can also aid in effective communication and better
understanding provided the circumstances and keeping oneself in the place of the other person.
This can help in the effective conveyance of information in a workplace and therefore enhance
one’s abilities as a mediator (Fredericksen & McCorkle, 2013). The personality assessment has
helped me in finding out the nature of my coworkers and making substantial changes in my
interaction with people. Being an INTJ person, I usually remain reserved in a workplace,
however, the colleague who sit just beside me is probably an ESTJ who loves to interact with
