MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION 2
Introduction
The term comparative analysis is a kind of approach which is mainly used in
the research for comparing and evaluating the viewpoints of the experts.
With the help of comparative analysis, the relevancy of data can be
gathered in the investigations. It is observed that comparative analysis is
important for comparing the findings or results of two articles and help for
understanding the viewpoints of the researchers. In this investigation, a
comparative analysis will be performed between the selected articles
including methods used, findings, key points and other factors. It is stated
that comparative analysis can be achieved by doing a comparison between
the two articles and studies. The selected papers for comparative analysis
are highlighted below:
Article 1: From garamut to mobile phone: Communication change in rural
Papua New Guinea
Article 2: Research Approaches to Mobile Use in the Developing World: A
Review of the Literature
Comparative analysis
It is observed that comparative analysis helps the researchers for obtaining
the effective results and findings in the research. This proposed research
will implement comparative analysis to compare the findings and research
methods used in the selected articles (Whittaker, et al., 2016). In the
research comparative analysis is important because it allows the
investigators to evaluate the viewpoints of other experts and analyze the
findings of the previous investigation on the research topic. Moreover,
performing comparative analysis may help for improving the effectiveness
of the investigation and provide a way for comparing the viewpoints of two
or more experts on the same research topic.

Similarities and differences between the articles
The major similarity between the selected papers is that both papers
provided in-depth analysis related to mobile communication which can help
the readers for understanding key aspects of mobile phones. The key
difference between these articles is research methods where the first paper
included mixed research design but the second article adopted qualitative
design along with the literature review. Moreover, in both articles, the
authors provided their viewpoints on the same topic (mobile
communication) but included different perspectives. After reviewing the
selected papers it is found that in both articles the authors reviewed the key
features of mobile communication by including the opinions of other articles
(Yang, et al., 2012). However, in the first article, the authors did not
conduct any literature search but in the second paper, the author conducted
a systematic literature review that improved the quality of the research.
Overview of the papers
In the first article, the authors presented the attitudinal response of rural
villagers in Papua related to mobile communication technology based on the
threshold investigation. This research paper shows that the introduction of
mobile technologies has mainly been viewed positively with mobile systems
affording social communication with consumers. In this research article, the
authors provided their opinions in the context of mobile communication
technology and conducted a theoretical kind of investigation by included
qualitative research design and content analysis method (Agar, 2013).
In the second article, the author highlighted the significance of mobile
communication technology in this world. This journal article reviewed
around 200 recent investigations based on mobile communication and
identified the key considerations of the research. The author critically
reviewed the key features of mobile communication along with their
importance in the developing world.
