INTRODUCTION
Accommodation sector is one of the biggest and central sector of hospitality industry.
This sector assist shelter where tourist can stay. It is an important sector because as people
travelling to different areas and destinations, so they require some play where they can stay and
take rest and get energetic. Thus, by fulfilling this needs this sector become the central sector of
the whole industry (Katsoni, 2019). This report will study about the concept of accommodation
sector of hospitality industry along with career opportunities that individual can grab within this
sector. Progress within this sector in terms of grabbing jobs and career enhancement
opportunities are also being highlighted in this report.
MAIN BODY
Accommodation sector of Hospitality, event and tourism industries
Accommodation is one of the biggest and important sector of hospitality industry. It is
considered as backbone of this sector. The actual meaning of the accommodation sector is to
provide the place including room, lodging, building where guest can live and stay (Nagy and
Carr, 2018). Being a provider of accommodation it makes the hospitality sector complete. No
tourism industry will sustain without the active participation of this sector. In simple this sector
is considered with providing and enabling a place to live where the guest and the tourist can stay
and make their tourism more comfortable. Accommodation is that sector that raises the
experience of traveller and visitors who visit any place.
There are many companies of UK that operate in this sector. They make the availability
of good places of stay for their customers. Being one of the biggest industry hospitality sector
consisting of many sectors and companies and without the co-ordination of these elements this
sector would be considered as incomplete. Being an important element of UK's economy this
sector is of the major sector which consisted of many hotels, lodges, resorts and various other. It
can also be said that no tourist activity or visitor's visit to any place would be possible without
this sector. Not only in UK but this sector is existing in almost every place of the world and
serving its guest and clients. As per its level of services it is further categorized on the basis of
rating and ranking that starts with one start to five and seven stars. Where the one star denotes to

low level services provider on the other hand five and seven stars comprised of those hotels that
are famous for their luxury and outstanding services (Mmutle, 2017).
Career opportunities
There are various career opportunities concerning this sector. UK being of the famous
tourist destination, tourism industry is the heart of its economy. Likewise, the sectors that are
associated with the hospitality industry have similar importance. Accommodation being the key
and important sector of hospitality industry has also many career opportunities. Here the people
will not only enhance their career, but they will also learn many new things. Within this sector
there are lots of career opportunities for those who belong to hospitality as well as other sector.
This is because a hotel and accommodation is composed of various department where the people
of different sector will make their career. This means that as, a hotel can't run without the
presence of different department including accounts, housekeeping, front office and various
other. So being comprised of sub departments so any person who have interest and belongs to
this department can make and flourish their career in this sector. As there are lots of job
opportunities associated with this sector right from lower level consisting of guards and security
till managerial level including managers and hotel head. Thus, due to the presence of many jobs
in this sector it would be right to said that there are lots of career opportunities.
Progress in accommodation sector
Like other sectors, in order to make career and achieve progress in this accommodation
sector every individual have to cross certain steps and level. This means that in order to grab
success and high position every individual need some set of knowledge and experience.
Adequate training would also help and lead an individual to achieve high success and growth.
In order to enter this sector, the basic and important requirement is the level of
knowledge and passion. This mean that an individual must have passion towards building career
in this sector. Likewise, presence of adequate knowledge in the form of diploma in higher
education and graduation and bachelor's degrees would also help an individual to begin its career
and enter into this sector. While in case of higher position including managerial and high level
and senior position including team lead and various other there is a need of experience.
Likewise, in order to moult the individual in the hospitality sector many hotels and companies

provide training to their employees so that they can get practical approach of this sector along
with enhancing their level of knowledge. As accommodation sector is the backbone of
hospitality industry so there are lots of carer development opportunities in this sector
(Hernández-Perlines and et.al., 2019). Along with presence of career opportunities an individual
can also achieve good progress in its life.
In addition of this an individual also have to pursue various training session that are being
provided by companies and the hotels. As this is one of the evolving and developing sector so
many changes are usually occurred in this field too. This can also be understood with an example
of covid where lots of changes are being occurred in this sector. This has make the digitalization
of this sector. However on a critical note it would understand that in spite of affecting the
business there are lots more career opportunities are being opened due to this pandemic too.
Thus, there is no shortage of any career or job in this field and sector. The only thing that matter
is the grabbing of opportunities and converting weakness into strength.
Likewise, for making further progress and career development along with securing high
and good position, training plays an important role (Malik, 2018). This means that through the
concept of training an individual will learn new thing and concepts along with flourishing its
career. Through training the efficiency and effectiveness of an individual also raises. Thus, it
would be right to said that training plays an important role in grabbing success and good job
position.
However in case of jobs that lead to progress of students will move in a sequel direction.
This mean that there are two ways by which the progress of an individual take place. The very
first method is devotion of time. This mean that moving from lower to higher level. The other
mode is education and experience (Ariza-Montes and et.al., 2017). The higher the experience of
an individual will be the higher the job position would be.
Apart from this it is also to be noted that as training, experience and knowledge are important in
this sector in order to make and raise career. The reason behind this:
Presence of adequate knowledge suppose knowledge of different knowledge will enable
an individual to deal with various kinds of guest who have different language. Likewise, it will
make an individual to be the asset of this sector. In the same way presence of knowledge will
also help and individual to handle different and complex situation of accommodation sector
(Baum, 2019).

As this sector has practical approach where direct interaction with the clients and guest
take place. So training will help an individual to deal the situation. Also, as there are many forms
of training in this sector consisting of housekeeping, soft skill, technical, safety and security and
various other. This training also plays an important role in the sector. This can be understood as
presence of soft skill an individual can softly deal and sought out the problem of the guest
(Rathore, 2017). In the same way safety and security training will make an individual efficient to
handle safety issues or emergency situations. Likewise, other training also have their specific
roles. Thus, training will make an individual to be progressive as well as efficient.
In the same way experience also become an essential element of this sector. This mean
that through the presence of experience an individual will be able to lead the situation and the
entire hotel or accommodation sector. Likewise, experience of an individual will lead to the
direction of progress and success.
Thus, presence of this factor and inculcation of this factor plays an important role in grabbing
success and enhancing the career.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded that hospitality industry is one of the important
industry of the economy of UK. Being an important element it is again comprised of several
sectors, out of them accommodation is one of the most important one. From this report it is also
understood that accommodation sector is categorized as a backbone of hospitality industry along
with lots of career development and enhancement opportunities. Likewise, this report also clear
that presence of adequate knowledge, skill and experience plays an important role in raising and
enhancing the career in this sector.
