Introduction
The menu of a restaurant is it’s the ultimate (Filimonau & Krivcova 2017) . This assessment
is about the menu of Zyka, which is an Indian restaurant in Brisbane, Australia. This
assessment will discuss in detail about the menu design and the food listed in it. All the
problems associated with the menu will be highlighted and attempted to be improved. A new
menu design will be provided that will solve all its issues and make necessary changes and
additions.
Menu Redesigning: Zyka
Zyka is an Indian restaurant in Brisbane, Australia. It serves everything from authentic Indian
dishes to UK style curries (Zomato 2018).
The restaurant menu is divided into 13 segments which are the Specials, Starters, tandoori
starters, beef, chicken, lamb, seafood, vegetarian, accompaniments, roti, rice, dessert and
drinks. The menu consists of special dishes from the Indian cuisine from different regions of
India as the cuisine is very diverse. The menu is 9 pages long. Under the name of each dish in
the menu it has a small description of that particular dish which will allow the non-Indian
customers and the Indian customers who does not know about the dishes to understand what
the dish consists of and have an idea of what it will taste like making it easier for them to
make a decision. Along with traditional Indian dishes the restaurant also has some dishes
which have been given a little twist.
The menu is very long and then too misses a lot of essential dishes from the Indian cuisine
which are hugely popular and loved. Such a long menu makes it very difficult for the
customer to make a decision about his/her order and also might lead to confusion and
wastage. In the menu it is seen that chilli chicken, Manchurian and other Chinese dishes
(Ren, Teng & Xia 2009) are included in the menu, these dishes are not authentic Indian
dishes and hence must not be there. The family pack in the specials sections must have a
vegetarian pack in place of it because a huge population of Indians are vegetarians. An
additional idea for long term profit and the benefit of customers is providing at least 2
selected accompaniments up to a limited quantity for free along with the order. In the
vegetarian section of the menu one vegetarian dish that is most loved throughout India is
missing which is paneer (cottage cheese) butter masala and that can be added to the menu. In

the last page of the menu consisting of drinks it is convenient that handmade and packaged
drink are put in different sections again for better sorting of the menu and the convenience of
the customer. Many dishes from each section needs to be removed completely from the menu
to make it less lengthy and complicated. Another speciality of the Indian cuisine is their fast
food which is missing here. A section must be made for the same in the menu in order to
attract more customers some combos that can be added are Dosa, Idli or Vada along with
sambar and coconut chutney, Chole bhatture, Aloo or Paneer parhanta along with chutney
etc. The menu has a lot of items and requires the presence of only a few in each section.
Conclusion
This assessment concludes that the menu of Zyka is good and authentic and it covers a huge
variety of Indian dishes but it is very lengthy and complicated which causes problems and
loss for both customers and staff. The menu requires some changes, additions and removal
which will be shown in the new design given in the assignment.
