INTRODUCTION
Employability is defined as the ability to gain initial employment, maintain it and acquire
new employment if needed. It is all about being capable of keeping fulfilling work by having the
knowledge, skill sets, personal attributes and understanding. This project emphasizes on
experience, skills and knowledge needed by a recent graduate to enter into an area of graduate
employment (Bryant and et. al., 2020). In this report, the selected professional area is human
resource professional as the significance of Human Resource Management is increasing in the
organisations and therefore, provide better job and growth opportunities for new employment.
The project covers general trends that impact on human resource profession and information
about the skills, experience and knowledge needed in it. A job advertisement is also provided in
the appendices of the report.
MAIN BODY
Human Resource Management Profession
Human resources referred as a profession which consistently ranks high on the list of best
careers. This area has high growth potential and the ability to impact people as well as overall
organisation in a meaningful way. Individuals choosing human resource careers begin by earning
a degree of an associate or a certificate. For the management positions in the organisation,
graduates with bachelor's degree may also be eligible. The main responsibility of Human
Resource specialist is to recruit, screen, interview and hire employees in the organisation
(DeCenzo, Robbins, and Verhulst, 2016). Apart from this, they also handle the training,
employee relations, compensation, payroll etc. The tend to focus on single area like training and
recruiting. In addition to this, they hire and refer qualified candidates, process paperwork,
consult with workforce to determine needs and preferred qualifications, perform background
check, conduct employee orientation, interview applicants regarding their education, skills and
experience etc. All these are the daily tasks of a human resource specialist. There is a huge scope
and growth in Human Resource profession which is the main reason that it stands out as a best
career choice. This report aims to analyse the general trends that will impact on Human Resource
Profession and the skills, knowledge and experience required in the profession for getting good
employment. In order to fulfil the aim, primary and secondary research will conduct on the

developed objectives (Diez, Bussin, and Lee, 2019). The objectives associated with this study are
as follows:

In this part, the data regarding the general trends in human resource professional and the
skills and expertise required in it are collected and analysed assistance of different sources. For
gathering the information, primary and secondary research is performed in which the primary
gather data is gathered through using interview method and the secondary data is gathered
through making use of books, articles and journals (Mcdonnell, and Sikander, 2017). This assist
in ginning in depth information about the human resource profession along with its general
trends and experience, skills and knowledge needed in the profession.

In this section, the second hand data is collected by making use of different articles and
journals and view point of authors are compared. The secondary research associated with the
area of study is provided below:
General trends which will impact on Human Resource profession:
As per the opinions presented by Zachary Totah, (2020), the general trends associated with
human resource profession involve effective recruitment and selection of workers, retain them
and provide them with regular training and development opportunities in order to improve their
satisfaction level and keep them retain in the organisation for longer term. However, with the
technological advancement as well as upsurge in artificial intelligence has brought many changes
in the trend of human resource profession. In this profession, the latest trends which have

positive influence on graduate employability is maximised utilization of Artificial intelligence
which simplified the process of human resource management with more updated software
version (Rana, D., 2019). Apart from this, more effective on boarding of workforce and virtual
team building in order to enhance their experience at workplace in addition to the health
advocacy programmes are seen as latest trends in human resource profession. In addition to this,
improved emphasis on talent management as well as facilitating a flexible working schedule and
a healthy and positive work place environment with effective human resource guidance as well
as effective communication by using artificial intelligence and automation software are also the
key trends seen in this profession and this results into positive influence on employability of
graduate individual in Human Resource profession.
The key skills, knowledge and experience required by a Human Resource Professional:
As per the view point of Silva and Soares, (2018), the human resource profession is
considered as the fastest growing career area as in current competitive business world, all the
organisations emphasize on development of employees and their proper management within the
organisation. Human resource management is considered as the crucial department in a business
entity therefore, it is needed by a human resource professional to possess different viable skills,
expertise and knowledge in order to get good employment and perform their roles and
responsibilities effectively in the firm. Good communication is one of the skill which is very
much needed by human resource professional in order to communicate all the information
clearly to the employees (Top Human Resources Skills, 2020). Apart from this, good leadership
skills are also required for effectively guiding the employees and provide them with the right
direction to perform better. The another skill which is required by human resource professional is
effective decision making as with the help of this, the manager can be able to take decisions
regarding recruitment and selection of skilled and competent employees. The management skills
are also required by human resource professionals in order to manage all the activities properly
within the organisation. In addition to this, collaboration and teamwork skills are required in
order to develop healthy culture in workplace where all the employees work collectively towards
accomplishment of organisational goals. Apart from this skills, the knowledge required by
human resource professionals includes knowledge regarding employment laws so that they can
be executed well in the organisation. Moreover, the expertise in recruitment and selection is also
very necessary in order to manage skilled employees within the organisation. All the above

mentioned skills and knowledge are very much required in getting good employment
opportunities as a Human Resource professional (Silva and Soares, 2018).

The primary data is collected through using interview method from the 3 participants who
are the employees of British Broadcasting Corporation group.

Theme 1: Most general trend seen in human resource profession which impact positively on a
graduate employability
Interpretation
As per the responses provided by respondents, it has been found that increased utilization of
Artificial intelligence and automation software is the trend in human resource profession to
ensures smart process of hiring and better training of employees which lead the organisation
towards growth and success. This trend impact positively on graduate employability as a HR
professional.
Theme 2: Main skill or knowledge required by a graduate applicant for getting good
employment opportunity as a HR professional
Interpretation
It has been found from the responses of respondents that good communication and collaboration
and teamwork skills the main skills which are needed by a graduate applicant for getting good
employment opportunity in the area of human resource. Apart from this, the knowledge
regarding employability laws is also very essential in order to get good employment opportunity.
Based on the above analysis, it can be said that AI and automation of software are
considered as the general trends in human resource profession which impact positively on

graduate employability. Apart from this, communication and coordination and team working
skills are needed by graduates to get good job opportunity in human resource profession.
Evaluation
The Job vacancy which has been chosen by me and seemed to be appropriate for me
according to my personal interest as well as potential is the position of Human Resource
Administrator in British Broadcasting Corporation Studios (van Kruining, 2017). The main
reason behind selecting this job vacancy is that it facilitates a good career progression to me
along with good growth and work experience in the area of human resource management. This
job vacancy will support me in getting good pay and provide me with better growth opportunity
in future by improving my skills and knowledge in the area.
