EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report is about the importance of organisational behaviour and how the culture of the
company affect its working. The term organisational behaviour is a study which gives insight of
the human behaviour and develop an understanding of the key aspects which can motivate the
employees. The GlaxoSmithKline Plc company follows role culture which helps it motivating
the employees and work according to their mission and vision which encourages transparency
and integrity. The culture plays an important role in improving the effectiveness of the
organisation which is supported by the channel of communication which involves effective
communication between top level and sub ordinates, the employees must have liberty to share
their views and many others. The culture also helps in motivating the employee as it helps them
to fulfil their hierarchy of needs. Moreover culture contributes the success of the company as it
plays an important role in enhancing the productivity and efficiency of the employees. This
report is completed with the support of primary and secondary research where primary research
is done through questionnaire where the culture of the GlaxoSmithKline Plc company identified
by the sample of 15 employees and secondary research is undertaken to complete the other
aspects of the report. Secondary research involved books and journals.

INTRODUCTION
Organisational behaviour is the study of the performance of both individual and group
and the activity which is undertaken within the organisation. It mainly study the human
behaviour in the work environment and then determine the impact of it on the job structure,
motivation, leadership, performance, etc. It helps in giving the insight of the employee's
behaviour and develop the understanding of the aspects which can motivate the workforce and
increase their performance. This will also help the company to establish the strong and trust
worthy relationship with their employees. Through this manager, the manager is able to
understand the needs and wants of the employees and also some other factors which can affect
their level of motivation (Balwant, 2018). The organisation chosen for this report is
GlaxoSmithKline Plc, which is a multinational company dealing in the Pharmaceutical sector. It
is headquartered in England and was established in the year 2000. this report shall deal with the
culture of the company and how organisational culture helps in improving the effectiveness of
the company through communication. Further it will cover role of the culture in the employee
motivation and how culture can help in enhancing the success of the company.
MAIN BODY
Identify the culture in line of the company
Organisational culture is a collection of the values, practices and the expectation which
inform and guide the actions of the team members. The organisational culture helps in setting the
level of expectation as to how people must behave and also work within the company. It also
helps the teams to work together as its sets guideline for them also to function together. In
context to GlaxoSmithKline Plc, the organisational culture of the company shall be identified
using Handy's culture model.
This model was given by Charles Handy. In this model, four different kinds of cultures
are defined which the organisations follow in their workplace (Miao and et. al., 2020). These
organisational culture is discussed below- Power- Under this, there are some organisations where the power of decision making and
authority remains in the hand of very few people. They only enjoy this special privilege
while working in the workplace. These people further delegate their responsibilities to
other and in such a culture the subordinates have to strictly follow the instructions of the
