Managing an organization could be challenging, due to a dynamic environment in which a
company exist and conduct business. Various internal and external factors are responsible for
effective management in an organization (Ramayah & Kurnia, 2015). For instance, the
governance structure and business structure of a company are one of the factors; moreover, there
are various environmental factors that will be discussed considering an organizational case in the
essay, which will influence the decision-making and performance of the company. In addition to
this, the purpose of the report is to analyses risk integrated along with the conduct of business.
Oxfam Australia is one of the non-for profit organization, it is an Australian company working
upon community based development and aid organization. It is a subsidiary company of Oxfam
International which includes long-term development projects that consider campaign and
emergency responding in order to enhance disadvantaged people‘s lives across the globe. There
is a major objective is to provide improved social service excess to disadvantaged people, Equal
rights, safety from Disaster and conflict and affective voice in decision-making. Considering the
financial investment in the company as it is a non-for-profit company it is using 73% of funds
from a donation, around 11% for Administration and 16 people are usually used for promotion
and fundraising. It has been identified that in the emergency scenario the company is directly
using 85% of funds in response to the emergency purpose (oxfam, home).
Considering the business structure and governance structure of the company that is Oxfam
Australia the board of directors of the company are responsible for overall compliance and
performance and also provide strategic direction to their employs that are to provide a reason to
perform, through effective leadership and effective governance (Raja & Palanichamy, 2015). The

Constitution of Oxfam Australia establishes a governance structure where the business control
and management and the organizational affairs are vested through the board of directors of the
company. It has been all identified that according to the governance structure the board are
responsible for monitoring overall performance of the organization, setting division and
providing direction to the organization through implementation of policies, monitoring and
approving the budget for the year while also ensuring the that the risk has been managed and
overall financial are in well-being condition. Moreover ensuring an effective relationship with
the company stakeholders, ensuring of the organizational needs of the statutory requirement and
regulatory requirements are met or not are also part of the responsibility of the board (Heap &
Singh, 2016).
The governance committee of Oxfam Australia are responsible for providing assistance to the
board of directors in order to increase performance level, providing training and development of
each director, board and committees overall, this would also include overseeing the orientation
of the organization. (oxfam, our-board, 2019). Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, Public
Engagement Committee, Governance Committee, Remuneration Committee, and Remuneration
Committee are the major committees of structure and composition of Oxfam Australia (Kumar &
Bhardwaj, 2018).
The environment in which the company conducts business consist of various factors that
influence a company’s performance and decision-making. For Oxfam Australia, one of the
environmental factors that have made it affect the company performance and decision-making is
the political factors of the nation. Since the company is, a charitable organization that is a non-
profit earning organization the political support from the nation is quite high, not only in case of
Australia but in case of other nations like the United Kingdom as well (Earl, 2016). Moreover,
