INTRODUCTION
Management operations is the policies and practices of organisation which makes the
business effective and efficient. Management and operations department of a company help in
increasing profits of the company and it is an important aspect which also help in effective
management of the company. It involves planning, organising, directing and controlling the
process to makes improvements in the business practices which leads to the achievements of
organisational goals.
This report discusses about the management and operation strategies of Sainsbury which
is the largest company of supermarket across the world. Its headquarter is at the London, UK.
Sainsbury sales large variety of products and services to the people of all over the world.
This report includes comparison between the different roles and characteristics of a leader
and manager in the organisation. This report also explains the role of leader and manager play in
an organisation. Different models and theories of leadership which helps the leader to improve
their skills and understanding while they are performing task in the business are also involves in
this report. In this report, there is also different approaches of operation management such as
TQM, Kaizen and JIT. This reports determine the impact of business environment on decision-

The concept of leadership and leader-
Leadership in a business is capacity of organization's management for setting and
achieving challenging goal, taking quick and decisive actions when it is required, outperforming
competition, and inspiring other for performing at high level they could (Reid and Sanders,
2019). Leadership include showcasing worker how effectively they could perform their
responsibility and regular supervising completion of the task. A Leader is a person who is
involved in leading or commanding an organisation or group.
The concept of management and manager:
Management refers to the process of effective maintaining and designing the atmosphere
in which the people working in the organisation so that they become focused to achieve the goals
and objectives. Manager performs all the functions of management to get the result done
successfully. The manager always focusses on the success growth of business in order to make

the plans and organise in the such a manner that the employees will work effectively and leads to
the growth of business.
