Motivation Motivation Current issues It is analyzed that there are many current issues that are taking place due to lack of motivation. One of the current issues is that most of the Canadian workers are ready to leave their jobs due to low wages provided by the management. The companies are not offering the wages according to experience and qualification of the employees and due to this demotivation among the employees has been enhanced. The other issue relates with the workplace conflict that takes place at the time of managing the routine work. If the employees are not motivated then conflicts can arise which can also be considered as the major issue in the workplace. This issue affects the overall growth of the workers and also creates negative environment (Peters, 2015). It is analyzed that lack of employee rewards or pay is also the issue that relates with motivation. If employees are not rewarded then it demotivates them and also affects their overall capability of giving their best towards the assigned work. In the Canadian companies, the lack of reward systemin which the employees are not offered with the sales bonus or with the special monthly recognition. For example: Tesco Canada, one of the largest companies has failed to motivate its young employees. The lack of training is the issue that has demotivated the young employees in giving their best. In Tesco Canada, the managers have to learn to deal with Generation X as they require more attention (Personnel today, 2019). Therefore, it can be said that these are the current issues that are faced in the Canadian workplace. Current thinking By analyzing the issues that are faced in the Canadian workplace, the current thinking relates with the different motivational theories and concepts that should be used by the companies. In the present era, it is important for the organizations to focus on the motivational concepts such as Maslow hierarchy of needs theory. This is one of the important theories that relates with the current scenario of the workplace. In the present situation, the employees work with the companies where their needs are satisfied. In this case, it is necessary for the Canadian organizations to emphasize on Maslow hierarchy of needs theory. It is one of the famous theories that should be used by the companies as it focuses on satisfying the basic requirements of the 2
Motivation workers. In this theory there are five stages on which the management should focus such as physiological needs in which the basic needs are considered such as food and shelter. Safety needs is the second stage that should be considered and in this the management should provide job security and stability to its workers. The next is love and belongingness needs in which trust and friendship should be maintained among the workers. Esteem needs is the next stage in which the management should focus on giving respect and status to its employees. Self-actualization needs are the stage in which the higher authority should emphasize on personal growth and experience of workers. It can be stated that if this theory is considered and implemented in the workplace then it would be easier to enhance the satisfaction level of the employees and also it will directly boost the productivity level of the workers (Fallatah & Syed, 2018). Current trends The current trends in relation to motivation can be the different techniques that should be used by the Canadian companies so that motivation level of the workers can be boosted. One of the current trends is training. The companies should emphasize on giving training in which on the job training as well as off the job training should be given so that employees can feel comfortable at the time of managing the routine work. In relation to motivation, the companies should also focus on giving holiday packages to the employees who are giving their best towards the organizational work. Canadian companies should also organize different trips and campaigns as it can lead to higher productivity and also boost the morale of the workers towards the assigned work. In the present era, the employees prefer to work where there is a positive environment so it is necessary for the organizations to create positive workplace environment by conducting meetings and different sessions. These types of activities can give direction to the employees to work in a right manner and also help them to feel confident towards the operational work (Wlodkowski & Ginsberg, 2017). 3
