INTRODUCTION
In today's competitive world, the organisational complexities are increasing and that's
why the pressure on employees is also increasing (Schunk and DiBenedetto, 2020). Due to this,
companies need to motivate their employees so that they can give their best in order to achieve
organisational objectives. In this context, Jack stores is undertaking which are the new discount
stores opened by TESCO so that they can give a tough competition to Aldi and Lidl. This report
will be discussing two motivational theories which is necessary for an organisation in order to
motivate their employees.
MAIN BODY
Motivational theories
Business environment is becoming dynamic which increases uncertainties for company.
This can be seen in TESCO as they are facing a tough competition from Lidl and Aldi and
because of that they are opening new discount stores i.e. Jack stores. They found that
uncertainties creates problem for an organisation such as decreases employees' productivity due
to pressurize. For that purpose, it is crucial for Jack store that they should motivate their
employees. This will assists in increasing employees' productivity as well as job satisfaction and
loyalty (Rheinberg and Engeser, 2018). In order to motivate employees, company should apply
motivational theories that are explained below:
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
It is one of the best motivational theories which should be apply in the organisation so
that an organisation is able to motivate and encourage employees towards organisational
objectives. Motivation is crucial for increasing productivity, job satisfaction, loyalty, high
commitment, tend to less sick and absent (Anderman, 2020). This is crucial for an organisation
that they need to identify the needs of employees and try to meet them in order to achieve
organisational objectives. This theory contains 5 important stages which are mentioned below:
Physiological needs
Physiological needs are leading to the basic needs which are important to meet for
employees. It is concerned with very basic needs such as food, shelter, clothes, etc. Every
organisation needs to provide basic salary to the employees so that they will be able to meet their
