INTRODUCTION
Motivation helps to retain potential, skilled and capable staff members in the
organisations over the years. Management of the firm adopts various ways to motivates their
employees so that they can raise their workforce efficiency (Damian and Capatina, 2019). Jack
discount stores which is a part of Tesco is undertaken to complete the report properly. The
organization culture and values will be same as other Tesco stores follow. Jack store is a on-
going strategy of Tesco in order to compete with Aldi and Lidl. This assignment covers
distinguish motivational theories so that set goals and objectives can be attained in the specified
time duration. Additionally, advantages and limitations of motivational theory is studied.
TASK 1
Scenario
Jack Discount Stores is launched by Tesco in order to compete with Aldi and Lidl. It is a
ongoing strategy of Tesco. The new store which is opened has similar pricing tactics, culture and
values like that of other Tesco stores operating in the global market. The staff members who are
recruited for the new discount store should be highly motivated to work in jack stores.
Various types of motivational theory adopted by Jack Discount Stores
Maslow's Need Hierarchy came into existence in the year 1943 by Abraham Maslow.
This theory has five stages and human assets has ascending hierarchy of needs. The stages are
illustrated as under:
Physiological Needs: Food, water, shelter and clothes are basic physiological needs
which individual require to survive. Employees working in Jack Discount Stores are provided by
this basic salary according to the remuneration act designed in the legislation. so that their
survival needs can be full-filled easily. By this productivity level can be raised.
Safety and Security Need: The next stage of Maslow's hierarchy is to have basic
security regarding the job and the family. Health security, financial security, safety against
accident etc. are some of the safety and security need which is given by Jack discount Stores for
their hired staff members. Organization by providing safety equipments at workplace they can
full-fill their security needs. (Harpine, 2019).
