Myers-Briggs personality type influence the leadership style
This essay will help me in providing information about my personal experience while I was
working in a hotel as a reservation agent. My own experience includes the leadership style
according to the Myers-Briggs personality type which is putting influence on my colleagues and
subordinates regarding the work I have performed to be an inspiration to them. The essay will
analyze the leadership qualities by extracting the shortcoming and to personify the best out of me
and how it helped me in making my future as a right person.
It was a year experience while I was working in a hotel as a reservation agent. The working of a
reservation agent is to book rooms, booking for parties, reservation of banquets, lounge, etc. I
have to make phone calls and sometimes visit customers to help them booking in the hotel. As a
senior reservation agent, I have to delegate my orders to my subordinates. Four other people
were working on the reservation status under me. Every day there were post briefing regarding
our various product in the hotels, different discounts, and availability of rooms (Sample, 2017). I
began to learn that in a Customer Service profession the most important thing is to communicate
effectively with the customers, though some may irate you can present rude behavior in front of
you, but still we have to be a focus and be patience in understanding the problems of the
customers. A customer is a person who is in need of something from us to figure that out we had
to have patience and politeness in our nature (Cochran et al., 2018). The problem-solving skills
are also required to find out the real issue and to resolve it so that the customer will feel good and
can provide us with repeat business or more (Gilotra et al., 2017).
My job is to attract customers as a reservation agent for that I provide information related to our
hotels to the customers specifications and all the information provided regarding the different
rooms in the hotels including one bedroom to royal suite, the food we offer and the other
amenities like swimming, laundry and different cuisine including the Bar (beverages) in the
hotel. As a senior agent, my work is also to watch out for the other four agents who work under
my hood. I was delivering a right amount of customers to the hotel, but revenue generation from
the others was not so good, because of that our housekeeping manager was little upset, the rooms
were vacant, and the pressure was on us to fill the rooms by arranging customers. It was a great
challenge, a meeting was forwarded, and we were told to increase our sale. I was anxious about

the other agents and began to teach them about the various way to communicate with customers
and also provide them with new marketing ideas. The ideas actually worked, and within few
weeks the vacant room began to be occupied, and the manager also praised my team regarding
our performance and me, we have had broken record of the occupancy rate ever. On the brink of
success, a small incident occurred, one of my agents had booked a room for the customers and
had taken their credit card information, but he forgot to make the payment, and also to delegate
the information to me or the front office department. So at the time of entry of the guest, there
was chaos on the reception regarding the reservation of the guest as his family was being awaited
(Stoyanov et al., 2017). It was a problematic situation, the agent refuses to take charge as he was
in a spot of bother. At that time I took the blame on his behalf and a step forward for resolving
the issue, the agent also got motivated, and he provided me with all the required concern for the
customers. I urge the guest that there is a slight mistake in the system for that your booking was
not confirmed, but within few moments it will be arranged, the manager also got into the act and
just arranged an excellent suite for the family and free breakfast was offered to them on my
behalf.
INFJ (Introversion, Intuition, Feeling, judging) seek value in relationships with other people for
the better understanding of themselves and other. Introversion tends to be quiet and reserved,
expanding energy at the social situation with a close acquaintance (Rashid and Duys, 2015).
Intuition refers to sensing the bigger picture and future possibilities. A feeling is the thinking
process to value personal decision above objective criteria. Judgment preferred to perception to
plan their activities and make a decision early (Hassan et al., 2017). Other common values of
INFJ includes: -
1. Creativity
2. Sensitivity and empathy
3. Perfectionism
4. Strong written or indirect communication.
The main factor of the personality type of Myers and Briggs is that it is more focused on
evaluating the human nature and developing them for the achievements of desired goals (Lyn et
al., 2018). It is dedicated to envision, plan, and carry out complex projects for humanitarian
causes. It will also allow completing projects in a quiet environment by developing their
