1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND
CQU University is planning to organise a week celebration of NAIDOC (National Aborigines
Islanders Day Observance Committee) in its campus from 8 July to 15 July of this year. This
week celebration is performed in viewpoint to boost awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islanders community. At the time of this event, numerous opportunities are generated for students
and staff working at CQU for making them participates actively. The week celebration of
NAIDOC has a certain theme that is 'Because of her we can'. This particular theme is celebrated
in order to determine the specific role played by her and she will be playing to continue her
significant and active role or responsibility in following community, state, local and working at
national level. SET (School of Engineering and Technology) Indigenization based committee is
used to propose or anticipate the project hosting of NAIDOC week. This project enables staff and
students to collaborate and engage themselves with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
during this event. This event even aware staff and students regarding their culture and community
protocols.
1.2 JUSTIFICATION
For week celebration of NAIDOC, some of the output of the project is expected to be developed.
This developed project plans to monitor all activities and events in proper time-based limitations
and cost so it delivers growth to managers as well as universities associated with NAIDOC
committee. Along with this it also proves to be advantageous in gaining various understanding
related to people associated with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. After the execution of the
entire project, different outcomes along with its benefits are evaluated.
