Introduction
In this essay the discussion is made upon Nationalism in Europe and the political ideas which
were made in 19th Century. This essay is totally based upon research that describes about the
political agendas proposed by some nationalist and anti-nationalist examiners. The analysis is
done on all discussions which were made by experts and on basis of those ideas and discussion
comparison is conducted in this essay.
Nationalism in Europe
The term ‘Nationalism’ is same with ‘Patriotism’ and there is no any particular definite
definition is described for Nationalism. It can be simply defined that it is an ideology which
shows the loyalty and devotion towards the nation surpassing the interest of other groups or an
individual1. According to history in year of 1800s the term nationalism was defined that the
people or individual has to show devotion or interests towards the integrity, security, culture and
sovereignty of nation. The people of nation have to speak the same language, follow same
religion so that they can understand each other. The term was used in the 18th Century in which
a nation is defined or promoted by the principles of ethnographic. Although according to Roman
Empire it was defined that world has to unite under a common flag2
Italian Renaissance
In nationalism of Italy the person who played vital role was Giuseppe Mazzini he was one of the
nationalist of Europe. Italy was captured by ancient Rome. The concept of young Italy was based
upon moral and spiritual values by the people of Italy. This was the responsibility of leaders of

Italy to teach common people for the political knowledge. The main aim of the Mazzini was to
unite the people as according to if there would be no unity in a nation then there will be no
strength in that nation. The revolution was begun with team of 40 members and later on it was
increased to 50000 members. This revolution was successful and possible because of literacy and
knowledge which were provided to people of Italy. Later on Mazzini also motivates to other
parts of Europe for the nationalism of their countries. They also wrote a letter to their friend who
was living in England and informed about Italy movement.
Independence war of Greek
People of Greek were looking for their freedom since long time from rule of Ottoman; also they
want to set their own identity on globe. The movement for freedom of Greek was begun from
1821 and it was continue to 1828. The concept of independent Greek model was based on liberal
institutions and the he examine the experience of France, he also conceptualize the independence
war of America. He declared the movement with a name ‘Declaration of the independence of
Greece’. The people of Greek fought for their liberty, property and honor and they claimed
themselves as most civilized nation from all neighbor nations of Europe3.
Belgian Movement for nationalism
In Year of 1830 congress session was organized in which it was decided that as same as the
assembly there should be a government formed by representative of nation. The responsibilities
of those representatives have to look after the concern of Belgian and maintain prosperity of it.
