Introduction
In the current 21st century, networks are becoming distributed and complex. Due to this
issues such as performance degradation, bandwidth monitoring, service provision are becoming
harder to solve. Also it has become a real challenge for Network Operation Centers (NOC) who
are in constant search for an efficient integrated network management systems. This monogram
will outline how to manage network performance.
Task 1: Network Management environment set-up
Network management architecture
There are three types of network architectures which are centralized, distributed, and a
hierarchical network management. This paper goes for centralized type of network architecture.
A shown by figure one below a centralized network architecture uses a single management
system to monitor the whole network.

The reason as to why this paper goes for a centralized network architecture is because it
is utilized by most of NOC.
Configuration of devices using SNMPv2
In figure 2, NMS2 and NMS1 monitor devices on the network. The network devices are
configured to use SNMPv2 ti communicate with NMSs. A switch is added on the network for
expansion
