In this project of Design and Construction of New Orbital highway and Truck Route
Contract 3, I have to execute the project properly and perfectly without any type of
complexity. The technical submittals or shop drawings are to be reviewed accurately. Since,
this project is the integral part of the New Orbital Highway of Ashghal, I have to ensure that
the data results are accurate and perfect. Therefore, for the purpose of completing this project
with utmost dedication, I have developed the following objectives for this project:
To perform the construction activities like grading, cutting, levelling and backfilling
until and unless the subgrade bottom level is fulfilled.
To construct the truck route contract 3, which is of 56 km in length.
To complete the new dual carriageway from Mesaied city to Salwa road.
To ensure that the civil engineering works are completed ethically and properly.
To maintain health and safety environment throughout the works and experiments
within the project.
To provide the best solution in the project for a betterment of the citizens of Qatar.

civil engineering; hence I was chosen to complete this project with seven other members,

all types of concrete and compression tests are done properly in this project. I was responsible
for all construction activities from chainage for all earthworks from grading, levelling, cutting
and backfilling until and unless the subgrade bottom level, with filling of 500,000 m3, cutting
of rock 1,000,000 m3, road base 250,000 tons and asphalt 275,000 tons. I even have the area
of work of all road safety furniture from chainage with 450 km for both steel as well as
concrete barriers.

CE 1.3.5 My responsibilities throughout the project

drawings for achieving accuracy in the requirements of the project as per the constructability
reviews. I even have to lead and manage the entire project site team and prepare the biweekly
and triweekly scheduling and following up of the daily progress for ensuring to meet the
integral targets. My next responsibility includes supervising and inspecting the site activities
on regular basis and evaluate the work of previous days. I also ensure that the site team is
following the quality and safety according to the project requirements and then holding the
weekly quality and safety meeting or before stating the new site activities. My other
responsibilities include planning, organizing and directing the activities that are concerned
with the systems, facilities and constructions and investigating the damage, delays and
accidents at the construction sites and ensuring that the proper processes are carried out. I
also ensure the company, client and project policies, processes and standards that are adhered
here and interpret the policies.

CE 1.4.1 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
For executing the works that are assigned to me in this project, I am using my core
civil engineering skills. I have used my skill of testing of the building materials. Since, I am
the construction manager, it is my duty to check that whether all the experiments or tests are
being executed properly. I have applied my knowledge of concrete test and compression tests
for completing the construction. Moreover, I have also used my skill of split tensile test for

had an unscheduled visit from prime minister and we had to open one phase of the road, 3
months before our deadline. Hence, our daily targets were increased and we got a major push
from our top management. The engineering team forgot to provide the design of Surface
drainage water channel in earlier stages. When we assigned three crews in different locations
on-phase; one to excavate and cast concrete for these channels, they exposed the posts of
steel barriers by 20 to 30cm from the original length of 90cm. The strengths of the posts were
reduced and it became hazardous. We even received a negative feedback from the site
observation report.

activities. I even ensured before the constructions, posts regarding the safety road barriers are
present. I suggested the design team to redesign the cross section again of surface channel to
come up with smaller sections and also to check the result if 20N concrete is being casted.
After holding a meeting with the barriers’ subcontractor, I told the subcontractors for seeking
technical solutions regarding safety for casting concrete with 20cm. I concluded that the posts
could resist the design lateral load of 1.5 ton. I even successfully carried out the push test on
random locations.
CE 1.4.4 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
I have made the distinct plans to execute the project with utmost efficiency. For this
purpose, I arranged for workshops before starting our work. Each of us attended the
workshop and got proper knowledge about civil construction works.
CE 1.4.5 Collaborative Work
Collaboration is the major factor in our project. We are several members including
our project manager. Each one of us is working collaboratively and helping each other so that
none of the project members faces issues in the project. I have even made sure that the project
would be completed within given deadline.
