In the 21st century, the use of up to date technology is one of the key ways to set a
business apart from the rest. It has been found that organisations who employ a certain degree of
innovative technology in their operations gain competitive advantage over their competitors
(Urbancova). Companies such as Toyota and Tesla have employed the use of technology and the
same has been identified as one of the key factors that contributed to their success (Fleming).
Not only does technology smoothen the operations and functionality, it also makes the work
comparatively easier. Furthermore, it reduces dependency on human capital and eliminated the
risk of uncertainty, threat and errors that can be associated with the human errors. The aim of the
report will be to critically evaluate the relation that exists between the use of innovative forms of
technology and increase in quality that result in efficient outcomes. The paper will discuss the
forms of technology that can enhance the operations and outcomes of businesses, how they could
pose threats to human capital and how the use of technology can bolster the performance of
companies.
The industries across the world have shown favourable outcomes when they employed
use of innovative forms of technology in their operations (Bleda and Rio). Companies such as
Amazon, eBay, Toyota and Tesla have relied on improvisation on technological terms and that is
what has set them apart for the competition. Toyota motor have shown favourable performance
as a result of introduction of technology in their operations. The significance of technology and
the significant role that it plays in the success of a company can be explained with the help of
Toyota’s example.
Toyota motors has been recognised as a fortune 500 company and it has retained its place
for a considerable amount of time (Ning, Levina and Jeanne). The rationale behind their success
has been identified as the use of innovative technology in the operation along with their vision

which takes into consideration the environmental sustainability. The company has introduced
eco-friendly technology (Ito). Introduction of electric powered vehicles and fuel efficient
vehicles has given the company considerable competitive advantage and an upper hand in the
highly competitive industry. Adaptation according to the changing needs of consumers and the
changing environmental conditions has been responsible for the success received by the
company.
The role played by innovation in improvement of quality of work that the employees are
able to produce is bolstered by the use of technology (Beetham and Sharpe). Form the above
example, it is evident that technology can boost the performance levels and outcomes of an
organisation. There are quite a few factors that are responsible for imposing workplace quality
and performance improvement. It has been proven that technology can boost the performance
outcomes and also enable employees in deriving utility while they are working (Noe et al.). The
management can ensure that appropriate use of technology to gain competitive advantage in the
market. The former should first be allowed to determine the appropriate form of technology that
is appropriate for the business operations that they deal in. Then they should carry out practices
and incorporate innovative forms and some simpler forms of technology with the help of which
they can boost the functionality in every working division. Innovative technology such as
Artificial Intelligence can boost up the repertoire of a company. The employees and the
management should be aware of the effective use and management of passwords as inability to
do so can result in loss of intellectual information and lead to serious legal implications.
Furthermore, the option of utilising free software and application should be utilised by
companies. It has been found out that utilisation of the aforementioned factors and incorporation

Amazon operate differently. However, they still employ the use of aforementioned technology in
a different way. Even though they use the same technology such as networks, supercomputers
and smartphones, the process takes place differently. Amazon use their network to assimilate
products from various sellers across the world and use the same to cater to their needs (Haucap
and Heimeshoff). Uber use their network to provide commutation services to their customers.
Thus it can be understood that, even similar technology does imply the same sort of usage. It
differs as a result of difference in the ultimate strategic goals of the company. Furthermore, the
use of automaton tools helps in deriving ease in operations and also cater to the need of
innovation.
