Opening a New University Library: Project Planning and Management

Project Planning

 This study is based on a project of opening a new university library for attracting students and
allowing them to study as per their needs.
 This study will discuss all features that this library will have along with space, size, numbers
of books and others.
 It is based on a project of regeneration of Luton campus, the university of Bedfordshire that
wants to improve its academic as well as institutional student service.
 It will further show effectiveness of work breakdown as how it can help in completing project
in a timely and effective manner. Preparation of budget is also important as it helps out in
knowing estimated time of completing project and maintaining quality.
Introduction

 As we can see that competition is increasing in all sector and academic sector is one of them.
Parents prefer to get their children admission done in colleges and university that is well-known and
is the best in education.
 University that has skilled staff is vital but along with this, there are numbers of factors that can
attract students. Infrastructure and design of is one of them as students prefer to get their admission
done in university that has attractive infrastructure.
 University that has library where students can read and study anytime is also important. For this
purpose, university of Bedfordshire is seeking to improve its academic as well as institutional
student service by constructing a new scholarly library. It is the main project that this PPT is
going to discuss.
 University library has numbers of features as it brings all information and knowledge together on
the one hand and human beings on the other.
Project Overview

Some objectives of this library will be
 To allow students to study anytime as it will be available for 24*7.
 This project of opening a new library can attract students and will have all facilities that are
required by students nowadays. Some information related to new library include: size. The
size of this library is vast as it is of around 7,400m2 with 7 storeys high.
 There will be double height entrance space as it will be easier for students to come according
to their suitability. Library is mainly known for books that it keeps and as per the size of
library, it will have space or house for keeping around 154,000 physical books.
 The number of books is huge so, it will be difficult to maintain and letting students know
about the type of book that they need. So, for that purpose, there will be labels on each shelf
that will provide information to students about the books that that shelf consists of.
Project Objectives

 There are numbers of features of this new library as generally in libraries, students have to
find books that they need and they have to read by their own but here in this new library,
students will be allowed to get guidance.
 For their guidance, there will be a study hub. If students find any problems related to their
study and education then they can go to study hub and can ask for guidance from experts that
will solve their doubts and students can continue their study without getting affected.
 There are different behaviours of students as some can study at place where other students
read but there are some students who prefer to study at silent place where no one is there. So,
for such students also there will be silent place on each of the upper 4 floors. Students can go
there when they need silent place.
