1. The majority of older Australian’s continue to live in their own homes, with
or without support. Discuss 2 advantages and 2 challenges of older people
remaining in their own home. (200 words)

Response: The two primary advantages that older population face while living
in their individual home are (Czaja
et al. 2019):
1. They are much comfortable and lack any sense of homesickness, as
they live securely in their individual home. The older people can
concentrate on their health and live freely without any kind of
hesitation.
2. In the older phase, people tend to feel the financial pressure due to their
ill-health or their lack of capability to earn money, hence, in such
condition, the older population living at their individual home can feel
more economically secured and are mentally stable and at peace. They
can take appropriate care of their health, medicines and other
requirement as they are safe from spending huge quantity of money to
reside at any aged care or nursing home facility.
The challenges that is faced by the older population of Australia who are living
in their individual home are (Horstmanshof, Garbutt, and Brownie 2019):
1. The major issue of social isolation is experienced by large number of
older population who reside at their individual home and hence is
reflected as the principal challenges. Due to the growing age, the older
people are unable to mobilize efficiently and they are inclined to be at a
single place that lead to the condition of social isolation and also affect
their mental peace.
2. The other challenge faced by the older adults are the problem of elderly
exploitation by their own relatives and family members that comprise of
emotional, psychological and physical abuse, financial exploitation and
negligence.

2. The My Aged Care website https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/ is a
central repository for information about aged care services in Australia.
Discuss how an older person can get assessed through My Aged Care to
get the services they need. (200 words)

Response: My Aged care is considered as the beneficial and accessible
Australian Government- funded aged care facility that focuses on
enhancing the living condition of the older adults and their associated
family members. This facility operated to provide suitable support and
assistance to the older adults who are suffering from any illness or
diseases. My Aged care consists of different types of healthcare and
support that target to develop the health and living condition of the
individuals. The individual who wants to take assistance from the My
Aged care facility, they will have to initially gain relevant knowledge
regarding different kinds of healthcare and support which is delivered by
them and accordingly identify which kind of assistance and care is
required for their better living (Commonwealth of Australia 2019).In-
person valuation is piloted by the facility which will assist them to
enhance their knowledge and awareness reading the facilities and
assistance and how this will help those individuals to modify their well-
being and stay healthy. Face-to face valuation is perfume dafter the
initial assessment, which will include an expert and that expert will be
responsible for explaining the government-funded services. The
individual will thus decide which healthcare assistance and care is
required by them form My Aged Care facility (Khadka
et al. 2019).
