A representative job posting on a job board is nurse informatics; this job post represents
my career target. In order to apply for this job post, few skills, knowledge and certifications are
required. Some knowledge and skills that are required are as follows
 Clinical experience as well as competence
 Critical thinking, problem solving and analysis
 Computer/ technical skills
 Skills for business correspondence
 Interpersonal skills
 Skills on project management
The certifications required for the post are as follows
 A license by completing the National Council of Licensure Examination for a
registered nurse (NCLEX-RN) with an average passing grade (Austria, 2017).
 Certification of work experience as a registered nurse for minimum 1 year.
 An Informatics Nurse Certification from Nurse Credentialing Center (Skiba,
2017).
Comparison of qualifications
The qualifications that I currently acquire include skills of a nurse like providing
compassionate care to patients, dedicated in the betterment of patients and instate and
many more, as I have been working for various health institutes since 14 years. When

compared to my present skills, for my current target job, I do not have certain skills. The
gaps that I need to fill for qualifying to my next career move are critical thinking,
problem solving and analysis (Kaminski, 2015). Some more skills include computer and
technical skills, skills for project management and the certifications like license of
NCLEX-RN and Informatics Nurse Certification.
