INTRODUCTIONFuture nurses have a responsibility to reduce risk factors faced by individuals and protectspecially older people from falls and harm that can be caused to them from falls. Assignmentlays focus on experience faced by Mr. Williams (Bill) a 75 year old patient. Case study presentsthat patient has gone through an accidental injury due to fell down (Gausvik et.al. (2015).Assignment highlights theories such as patient centred nursing in order to improve healthoutcome of service user. Report discusses about feelings and thoughts of future nurses related toaccident. Further it will lay emphasis on nursing action plan to enhance well-being of serviceuser. MAIN BODYBackground informationReflection is a method that registered nurses use in order to make patients ware aboutthere situation and conditions. This make nurses better understand about the service users'disease and prevent them to develop further risks. 1. DescriptionThe stage first of Gibb's reflection cycle which is description stage gives nurses with themethods and tools to have an idea about experiences faced by patients such as in this case ofprevention of falls. Case study provides information about Mr. William who has suffered fromchronic accidental injury and had undergone surgeries with both positive and negative aspects.(Urden et.al. (2015). A negative aspect was that nurses were not involved in timely care ofpatient and did not inform about precautions he can take for rest. A positive aspect was that billhave an idea about his present condition. Two main themes of care includes timely care forpatient suffering from fall and acute diagnosis for present conditions of patient. (Laschinger et.al.(2014). 2. Feelings and ThoughtsAfter listening to the experiences shared by Mr. William I was totally in shocked and wassurrounded with feelings of sadness, guilt and shame. I was feeling ashamed as a nurse thathospital settings were totally ineffective in their working and failed to impart acute care toelderly ill patient. In my placement I would have provided care based on values and beliefsfollowed by bill (Tobiano et.al. (2015). My all the decisions will be based on needs andpreferences of service user. Mr. William was given inefficient care which has also made him

anxious and depressed. I had a feeling of sympathy and empathy towards patient after hearing histough experiences. I was disturbed, distress, stressful and thought of how I can improve my careand what methods I can use in order to enhance health outcomes of Bill. 3. Values and BeliefsAt my placement I would be involved in providing care To Mr. Williams which aretotally based on patients values and beliefs. Treatment underlies ethical principles of care that ishonesty, autonomy, beneficence. All the decisions related to diagnosis process will be taken byservice user after consulting to their family members. Also, nurses should be involved in givingtreatment to patient which is fair and just (Boev et.al. (2015). No discrimination would exist onthe basis of caste, colour, age, sex or religion. These values and beliefs are very important as itbenefits both patient and nurses. It will improve health outcome of service user and enhancenurses quality of work. These values and beliefs are also important to family member of patientsas it assists them in knowing the exact condition of service user. These principles are alsoimportant to me as it would help me in removing my feelings of guilt and shame (Urden et.al.(2015). 4. AnalyseThe care aspects in the case scenario was inadequate as patient was not provided withtimely care. No nurses and health care professionals were available near service user with whomhe can communicate his problems. For example Mr. Williams was waiting for 11 hours in thewaiting room and no nurse or health-care professional was coming to have a check upon.According to Laschinger et.al. (2014) if nurses are not involved in building relationship througheffective communication, then it might hamper patients health and they might have a feeling ofignorance. Like For instance Mr. Bill was feeling ignored as he was shouting in pain and feelingisolated, yet he has no one to share his feeling. Nurses have the responsibility to provideemotional support in order to build relationship with patient, so they are easily able to identifythe needs and wants of service users. The care aspects in the case scenario was adequate as person-centred care was beingimplemented to Mr. Williams. Like for example Bill was sent to the best physiotherapist by hisGP in order to cure his arm. According to Gausvik et.al. (2015) person-centred therapy supportsnurses in knowing the perception followed by an individual. This help nurses in building arelationship of trust and friendship with service user that improves their well-being. This therapy
