Introduction
The primary objective of the essay is to reflect the experience of 75 years old patient Mr.
William Taylor, who suffers from varied health problems in his life. The experience of the
patient will be briefly described in this context by following the Gibbs Reflective Cycle. In order
to describe it, two themes of care focus are selected, and this will be discussed in terms of harm
and prevention context of the patient. The feelings, thoughts, values and beliefs regarding the
patient’s adverse condition will be demonstrated throughout the paper, based on the responses
that were provided in the description. Moreover, a brief analysis will be provided regarding the
adequate and inadequate care of the patient, which will help the nurses to improve their services
in future. Furthermore, an action plan, along with the concluding part will be provided that will
describe the whole context of the case scenario chosen for this study.
Gibbs Reflection Cycle
Description
From the case scenario, it is analyzed that Mr. William Taylor was the 75years old patient, and
he was suffering from several falls and adverse health issues in his life. According to the patient,
the experience of this injury was not good for him as he was unable to use his right arm. The
patient demonstrated that he had worst experience from this issue as no one helped him when he
fell in the gutter. After watching the accident, not a single person helped Mr. Taylor, and due to
this reason, he has to suffer from various problems. The presence of this intense pain restricted
him to move his hand properly (Lee, Choi & Kim, 2017). For this fall, the patient has to do an x-
ray, and he was sent to the surgeon to cure his health issue. In the hospital, Mr. Taylor was also

suffering from a bad experience because he has to wait eleven hours for getting relief from that
pain. After eleven hours, the patient gets proper treatment from the doctors and nurses. One of
the two theme of care focus reveals that after 11 hours of injury the nurses gave him proper
medication of Codeine so that he can get relief from the adverse pain (Reuben et al., 2017).
Another theme reflected that the doctor and the surgeon did his x-ray and a proper diagnosis to
provide relief to the patient from that condition.
Feelings and thoughts
After reviewing the description of the patient condition, I felt that people should help him
whenever they see any older adult falling in the gutter. If the person would have helped Mr.
Taylor, then he could have received proper care from the nurses and doctors of the public
hospital. From the description of the patient experience, it is analyzed that Mr. Taylor has to wait
for treatment for about 11 hours. The hospital has to improve their nursing interventions by
appointing new clinical staffs for providing preliminary services to the patients suffering from
falls (de Sousa Costa et al., 2017). By following this prospect, the patient can get rid of his pain
within a short period because he has not to wait for a longer time in the hospital.
Values and beliefs
After accessing the case scenario, I believe that nurses should focus properly on the patient who
is suffering from falls. Falls is one of the major injuries that creates huge pain to an individual
and due to this reason, proper attention should be provided to each patient (Dubois et al., 2017).
Thus I believe that in order to provide value to the patient care services, the nurses should
provide Mr. Taylor with the basic needs of the patient instead of making him wait for long hours
in the hospital. Hence, this value and belief are important because it can reduce some amount of
