1. Future Issues in the nursing theory and impact on healthcare delivery
and advance planning
Nursing theory defines and structures the idea of healthcare practices, i.e. it is a
framework that explains the phenomenon in nursing, at a specific level. Practising nursing
theories specialists face number of challenges in present as well as future years. The rate of
high unemployment or lack of suitable work for the nurses above 65 years was the issue that
represented lack of diversity, in the healthcare (Kavanagh & Szweda, 2017).
Nurses at old age are able to undertake the care of elder patients, and their health issues or
complications for longer period. Thus, nurses at old age must be given opportunities by
offering jobs, and enhancing health promotion. Overcoming this issue will also develop a
culturally diverse workforce, enhancing the team effectiveness, and efficiency of treatment
outcome. Therefore, it is essential for the health specialist along with the team members to
overcome issues and attain positive health outcomes (Cai, 2016).
The issue of unemployment to the older nurses in health settings also require overcoming
the issue by developing effective communication methods in the health care. Unemployment
of competent nurses will lead to a major impact on the patient care, thereby affecting the
healthcare practices. Unemployment ultimately creates shortages of workforce, hampering
the productivity of nurses, making them tired which results into increased number of
incidents and medical errors (Kavanagh & Szweda, 2017).
In healthcare settings, established and competent RNs and APNs are required to work to
provide effective treatment to the patients. Not only this, they contribute in the process of
attaining positive outcomes, and recover from chronic health conditions, forming a part of
advanced nursing practices (Xie, A. & Carayon, P. (2015.
2. Education and the aspect of competency of nurse into policy planning
The level of education attained by the student nurses to become professional in the
future requires efficient skills, and qualities. The entry point into nursing i.e. a Bachelor of
science into nursing degree has been found impacting the nursing practices. It has been
analysed that the nurses on the aspect of educational preparation, has felt sighs of frustration
in their work. The issue of frustration has not been confined to the nurses, it has been also

found in the educators, the pressure has been also found in the social and political parties,
from the nurses at the entry of nursing profession (Solum et al., 2016).
This issue impacts the overall role and participation, and contribution into the policy
planning. It is important for the nurses to work and influence the policy, and decision-
making, and regulatory process in the healthcare. This is because they must efficiency at
their roles, which can be evaluated to view the nursing practices. This requires RNs, and
APNs, to comply with the established rules and regulations of the nursing practice. Nurse
education is an important aspect as it influences the working and decision-making in the
healthcare. This is because education imparts nurses with effective skills, and professional
abilities to handle patient’s health complications to provide care. Moreover, it also facilitates
the health organisations attain efficiency and higher growth in the industry. Thus, it can be
stated that the role and contribution of nurses in healthcare is considered important,
determining the impact of health outcomes (Lewis et al., 2016).
