I will ensures the hearing device is well fitted, I will not shout or over-exaggerate words, I will
speak clearly and slightly slower, I will introduce myself for the patient to gain attention, I will
use reference when communicating to facilitate clarity and finally I will ensure there is good
lighting in the room to enable him or her to see well (Vreeken et al., 2013)
10 .Principles of open disclosure
a. Open and timely communication- I will ensure that I provide information to the patients
and family if anything wrong goes wrong (McLennan et al., 2016).
b. Apology- I will express my apology to patient and family upon any harm (McLennan et al.,
2016).
c. Confidentiality. I will uphold patient and clinician privacy (McLennan et al., 2016).
