INTRODUCTION
Nursing refers to the autonomous and collaborative care of the people of all ages,
communities, groups and families. In this there will be inclusion of means of nurse to care and
how they treat to old person with dignity. Further this will evaluate how this will underpin the
healthy ageing. Moreover, this report will outline the dignity, care and respect while providing
care to the older people by stating the evidence.
MAIN BODY
Defining meaning of nurse to care and to treat older person
The geriatric nurse are the types of nurses that is specialize in order to take care of the
older people and adults. They used to care for elder patients for the long term as if they are
facing the chronic diseases. Nurses used to have greater support to the older people and to their
families as well to have evidence based care. They used to take good care of the older people and
treat them nicely as already they are facing issues in their life (Dall’Ora and et.al., 2020). The
care of old people is one who used to need the help in order to cope up with the medical
problems in their everyday life. The nurses are the individuals who used to take care of the older
people with dignity and respect. This is considered as important part as this help the older
people to have the better care as they used to face different problems while ageing. Some of old
people used to live alone that used to cause may hindrances so nurses is basically the support
system that helps them in their medical conditions.
By having the good and polite nurses helps the older people to live better by showing
them some respect and dignity in their bad health condition (Cornine, 2020). The procedure of
nursing and taking care of the old people must be good as this makes them to have better caring
of the people. They must have feeling of caring, kindness, empathy, compassion, emotional
stability that helps them to serve bets to the older people.
Evaluating person centred care, dignity, respect underpin health ageing
Person centred care is all about treating the person while they used to receive the
healthcare of medical facilities. This also includes that they must have proper health care with
full respect, dignity and making them participate in the decision- making that is about their
health. By providing them respect and treating them well helps them to live better and cope up
with their problems early and easily (Doyle and et.al., 2020). This type of acre is basically
known as person centred care. This is one of the best approach that is directly linked with the

healthcare rights of the individuals. The nurses must focus on the preferences and needs and
ensuring them to feel relaxed if they are facing and problem in their life. This also include that
they must ensure that the will be provided with extra care which makes them keep health.
Demonstrating nurse care and dignity to older patient
Effective communication is one of the best wats to provide facilities when taking care of
the senior patient as it will help in solving certain issues. Along with this, older patients have
various health issues like hearing loss, vision impairment, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
Thus, nurse has to address sensitive topics in order to provide good care to the patient.
Moreover, when treating elderly nurse should take time to understand the condition and
circumstances as each client are unique and may suffer from age related impairments. Thus,
patient care tip will help nurse practitioner to effectively serve their patients. Some of the tips
required to take care of the patient are mentioned below:
Starting up with the right body language: While communicating with the patient it is
necessary for nurse to sit in front of the patient so that face expression can be identifying Along
with this, while communicating it is necessary to reduce distraction and send the message that
care has been provided to patient (Tehranineshat and Torabizadeh, (2022)). However,
maintaining eye contact is also very important to because command and attention helps patient to
understand things properly.
Exercise Patience: Nurse should exercise with senior patient so that it can feel comfortable with
them and participate more in the exercise (Stevens, Price and Walker, (2021)). Along with this,
nurse has to repeat the instruction several times before patient understand the message
completely. However, if while communicating with patient it is necessary to repeat words
several times and the level of speech should be slow and speak clearly until the client understand
things. All these things should be necessary to flow as older patient take time to react
during conversation.
Show proper respect: Elder patient client have different opinion about contemporary topics
and it should be kept in mind of the nurse. So it is important to acknowledge the experience of
the seniors as recognition will help in m fulfilling the generational gaps during communication
process. Along with this, giving respect to patient is core value that need to be followed by
health PR actioner while treating any client (Lindwall and Lohne, (2021)). Moreover, practice
active listening as it is one of the most important practice in order to understand the health

problem of patient. Nurse role is to listen to words and try to create environment so that it is
easy for patient to express ideas. Health PR actioner should make use of body language like
nodding and acknowledging communication without disturbing client. Thus, if nurse is not
able to understand what patient is trying to say then it should clarify question. Hence, these
are the ways to provide dignity and respect to old age patient as it will contribute in identifying
their concerns.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that nursing is known as collaborative practice to
take care of the people and provide them with guidance to improve their health. Along with
this, nurse has to follow some ethics so that it respects and provide dignity to the patient while
taking care.
