1) In the year 2008, Institute of medicine (IOM) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
(RWJF) had initiated a two-year program in order to fulfil the requirements to evaluate and
convert the nursing occupation. There were four messages that were outlined in the IOM,
which structured the approval in the report. The messages are as follows (Institute of
Medicines, 2019):
The nurses must exercise and practice their training and education- The IOM report
suggest recommendations to different stakeholders stating that the nurses can exercise
and practice their training and education and they can therefore adopt the best practice
and also incorporate it in their daily clinical practice. They can develop and enhance
their capabilities and skills that is required to deliver quality of care and safety.
The nurses must attain higher degree of training and education by a developed
education organization that will eventually promote and motivate continuous
academic progression. This will safeguard that the nurse is providing safe and patient-
centred care to the patient.
The nurse must be in association with the healthcare providers or professionals and
physicians in order to restructure the healthcare setting within United Sates that will
promote the concept of leaders in the nursing profession and will help the nurses to
prepare and motivate themselves with the highly enhanced skills that will aim to
improve the healthcare facility and setting for better advancement in their nursing
profession.
Policy making and effective workforce scheduling involve better method of data
collection and enhanced information infrastructure.

2) The IOM report focused on the future and recommendation of nursing by emphasizing on
the establishment of different leadership programs, which will connect the nurse’s capability
and result in changing and advancing the healthcare setting with modern innovation in terms
of professional growth and education. The report requests the interdisciplinary association
and highlights the authoritative for multiplicity within the nursing staff to reflect more
properly on the assortment of United States populace. Therefore, it is evident that IOM report
had a positive impact among the healthcare setting and had provided proper direction and
leadership trait within the nursing practice in healthcare organization (Ryan et al., 2015).
The major benefit and opportunity that the BSN-prepared nurses have is that they
serve for positive and enhanced patient outcomes. According to AACN, it was cited that the
hospital with more number of BSN nurse had resulted in decreased rate of mortality with
reduced number of procedural and medication error. The BSN nurse have an opportunity to
learn and acquire high clinical skills associated with critical thinking, case management,
health promotion and leadership qualities and strategies (Sarver, Cichra & Kline, 2015).
3) Due to developing healthcare system, a profound change in the nursing or clinical practice
will lead towards a positive nursing careers and enhanced patient safety. According to the
2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report, “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change,
Advancing Health” stated that the initial objective of nursing education and tutoring is
similar, despite the changes takes place within the healthcare setting and organization (Czaja
et al., 2019). Hence, the nurse should be trained to encounter different types of patients and
identify their skills which will help them in moulding their future generation of the nursing
leaders and provide the students with enhance practice knowledge and skills that will help
them in delivering high quality and safe care to the patients. Hence, it is important that the
nurse must evolve their skills and capabilities in order to fulfil the requirement because the
nurses have to deal with certain chronic disease or condition that require long-term support
