You Be the Researcher: Designing a Nutrition Experiment
Just like other scientific disciplines, factual nutrition information is based on experimental
research that has been replicated many times by many different scientists. Use lesson one
notes and section 1.5 in your textbook as resources for this assignment.
Instructions: Design a realistic intervention study (using human volunteers) to answer the
nutrition related question/topic/idea. Be sure to include as much detail as possible. Remember
– originality and creativity are important parts of scientific discovery!
Research question to be tested:
"An apple a day will have a good health"
1. In one sentence, state your hypothesis concerning the above question. This should be testable
and specific!
"An apple a day will have a good health" is concerning hypothesis which is state various
question regards with research. As per this, the given hypothesis is testable and specific because
it helps to provide some of the statement which must testable because it is associated with the
health. As per this, the hypothesis is become more specific when they state that an apple has
ability to remove the health factor which is associated with health consequences. Moreover, they
are focus on various type of problem and issue which is identified and show the possible which
have specific and must be testable and show the impact of that this is really workable, sometime
the hypothesis which is taking the attention in term of truthiness has been failed and show a lie
hypothesis but with this case the hypothesis must be testable and specific.
2. In testing your hypothesis, who will you recruit for your experiment? (Gender? Age? Health
status? How many? Specific target group?)
While testing the hypothesis, the targeted people for this experiment which show the positive
impact have some of the range which must be defined. In this, they are basically focus on male

and female which have targeted from the different age group for the testing of hypothesis.
Moreover, they are focus on the specific target group which is from the different age and gender
to verify the hypothesis which have some of the scope which give additional factor that help to
build the effective understanding of hypothesis and their truth. As per this, there are random
selection of population is being taken who have ready to provide the aspect of generalized factor
which have tendency to go with random days of trials.
3. Describe what methods you will use to recruit your subjects. What incentive will you offer
subjects to participate? What are the pros/cons to using incentives in research?
As per this, while random controlled method is used to select the candidate for the experiment or
to fulfill the hypothesis. The hypothesis is completely focus on the health of individual and it all
depend on the apple. With this aspect the subject is being selected with different age group and
gender to develop the practical with knowledge to know the impact with all round way. In this,
the incentive which is provided to the subject is based on the monetary and non-monetary based
as per there requirement. The pros and cons which is related with research is create hindrance if
any diversion is created which is related with health factor then it renders the effect of hypothesis
which measure on the people who is selected for this experiment.
4. Explain your experimental protocol. From start to finish, describe how your study will test
your hypothesis.
In this, every research has their protocol in which they are focus on the various group and
communities. The experimental protocol is associated with health and people pathophysiology.
From the start, the people who is selected for the research or the experiment must eat one apple
in ones a day and focus on the health with regular inspection. As per this, at last day of the
experiment, the health monitoring is being taken and analyses that the people who used to take
one apple in day are free from disease or complication or not. After that a comparison is being
done with other and person who is eating apple once day.
