This literature review explores bullying and harassment as a major cause of psychological illness and emotional stress among healthcare workers. It examines the manifestation of bullying and harassment within healthcare workplaces, the consequences of workplace bullying, legislative requirements relating to bullying and harassment, and standard industry practices relating to the elimination or minimization of bullying and harassment. The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) is used as a model organization to illustrate aspects of bullying and harassment within the workplace.
