INTRODUCTION
Onboarding refers to the term which is used in the human resources industry that is a
process for introducing any new hired employee within the organisation. It can also refer to the
organisational socialization which plays an important part to help employee that is effective to
understand their job role and requirements. It includes the process from job offer to the team
training. In pharmacy, human resources management also need to get ensure about the new
pharmacist onboarding which can allow to work effectively for the better outcomes. This can
help to make feel confident to the new employee and runs about few months (Novak et. al.,
(2019)).
Background on onboarding as an important element of HRM
Human resources management includes high importance in dealing with better and
effective response which includes onboarding that can include the importance of hiring and
introducing newly hired employee with the organisation that can help to proper introduce
towards their job role and work practices. In pharmacy, there is also need to understand the work
through getting better training that can allow to work effectively and introduce different task that
allow to get better effect on the employee retention. This can help to improve the feel of valued
and allow to understand the role which can help to enhance their productivity along with their
performance. This includes different activities like job offer, salary negotiation, policy and
culture training, job training, employee handbook training, benefits education, executive
introductions, team introduction. Here, in pharmacy there is also need to perform well through
getting through those process which are effective to provide better understanding the response
towards the high performing employee (Bhakta et. al., (2021)).
General objective of new employee onboarding
There are some of the objective which includes in the onboarding program and should be
follow which are going to be discussed further.
 Helping new employee to learn about the company vision, mission, priorities and
strategic goals.
 It also helps new employees to understand their performance expectations for the job.
 It allows to understand new employee about reaching to the performance expectations.

 It helps new employee to understand, comply and navigate company’s culture,
organisation structure, expectations, networking and interpersonal relationships.
 It enables new employee to feel valued by the company which excited for working in the
company.
 To increase the productive of the organisation through effectively arranging employee at
the correct place.
 It helps employee to contribute in the organisation.
Onboarding ideas in community pharmacy settings
There are some of the onbaording ideas which can be effective in the community
pharmacy settings. This can help to improve their learning to work and perform well during
working the pharmacy settings (Jeske et. al., (2021)). This can also help to get better care about
effective response towards the idea that can help in the onboarding process and improve
performance in short time.
There are some of the onboarding idea which can be used to introduce newly hired employee in
the community pharmacy settings. These ideas may include shadowing, creating checklists,
providing real or virtual tour, asking about their preferences.
Shadowing- In this, there is need to get in touch of experience employee who can help in
getting interacting with other and help to provide the information which are necessary to have
during working the community pharmacy settings.
Creating checklists- While performing job in the community pharmacy setting, there is
need to perform different task which need to ensure about it. In this, to ensure about all different
activities, there is need to make checklists that can allow and help about providing assurity about
the task or activity.
Providing real or virtual tour- As a newly hired employee, everyone has the curiosity
to have a tour of their workplace that can help them to get to access to resources more easily
without getting lost in the premises. Working in the community pharmacy setting, there is need
to have physical tour or should provide virtual tour by the current employees (Gruenberg et. al.,
(2021)).
Asking about their preferences- Community pharmacy setting can provide different
services or accommodation to their employees. In this, there is need to ask newly hired about
their preferences which can allow to get those available services.

Provide lunch- This can help to get comfortable with other health profession and help in
performing well.
Onboarding ideas in hospital pharmacy settings
Hospital pharmacy include the healthcare services which includes the practice, choosing,
storing, preparing, dispensing medical devices and medicines, advising patient, nurses, doctors
along with other healthcare professionals for safe and efficient use. There are some of the
onboarding ideas which can be effective in the hospital setting that can help new hire to get
confident about their job performance and role (Vest et. al., (2022)). These ideas may include
Entry interviews, introducing job role in practical manner, introducing to pharmacy process in
hospital setting, interacting with nurses or other healthcare professional regarding medication,
Asking for their suggestion.
Introducing job role in practical manner- Theoretical practices or training have their
own role which differ from the practical practice. In this, there is need to provide some guidance
and provide practical training by watching current employee during their work and applying the
practices with proper supervision can allow to get proper training which can help in effective
outcomes.
Entry interviews- This can allow new hired to get introduce to their senior, supervisors
and managers. This can help community pharmacy setting to run well and establish better
relationship with others.
Introducing to pharmacy process in hospital setting- This can help to work effectively
in the hospital pharmacy setting after getting all the procedure and legal processes.
Interacting with nurses or other healthcare professional regarding medication- This
can help to work collaboratively in different cases when they have better interaction it can help
to reduce the risk of communication gap in service delivery.
Asking for their suggestion- This can help to make hospital setting more efficient in their
service delivery and make new hire feel values in workplace (American Association of Colleges
of Pharmacy. (2020)).
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it can be concluding that onboarding is highly effective
process which can help new hire to get adopt in the new organisation to delivery their service

more effectively. There is need to introduce new employee within the organisation which can
help to effectively get settled and provide better and effective in delivering of better
implementation of rules that can help new employees to carry on different function within
organisation. This can allow to improve the quality of service delivery through learning about
different practices which need to perform within the organisation. It also helps community or
hospital pharmacy settings to introduce their new hire effectively that can enable them for their
retention and more efficient response.
