I am Shikder Sujan, Student number
2115669 and will going to talk about
problems the high streets of London
are coming across at the moment. I
will be going to throw light on nature
of one problem and the scope along
with its impact on organization and
other shareholders.
Slide 2 To elaborate it can be said that
because of the presence of online
shopping platforms such as Amazon,
more and more consumers are
considering online platforms and
shopping as their first choice in the
current time of pandemic (Carmona,
2015). They are getting cheaper
products as compared to that when
they purchase from the physical
stores. In addition they also get huge
choices and assortment of products
and services. Online shopping is
more convenient and as people don’t
have to go out for shopping
physically. They also does not have
to face crowd and queues which is
very common in high streets.

Slide 3 Talking in relation with the scope of
the problem that is competition of
online shopping platforms, it has not
just affected only the high streets
businesses or big town shopping
malls rather it scope is quite wide
and even the small villages and
towns to urban centres are being
impacted by the presence of online
shopping (Mani and Walden, 2019).
From the last few years, it has been
observed from different studies that
due to the changing preferences of
customers towards online shopping,
some of the key chains have either
gone to wall or have cut their costs
through paring back their
transactions and activities. Because
of this, many of the high streets of
Britain have started commencing to
appear unquestionably worn-out.
Between November and December
2021, the total quantity of retail sales
fell by 3.7% which has in turn
resulted into decreased in retail GDP
by 2.2 percent (Guo and Jaafar,
2016).
