INTRODUCTIONOperation management can be simply define as administration of business relatedactivities in order to create advanced level of skilfulness that is achievable within ancorporation. It is associated with transformation of material and labour into products orservices as expeditiously as possible so that profit of enterprise can be maximized (Alexander,2013). It is a function of business that design, arrange, order and process the assets required toproduce products. Each and every organisation has an operational function because they allproduce some types of goods or services. The present report is based on operation managementof IKEA. In this project, operational functions, roles and responsibility of operationalmanagement, etc. are explained.TASK 11.1 Operations management is importantOperation management is very necessary since it is the soul or heart of the companythat controls overall system while performing business in IKEA. This company is doingbusiness of manufacturing furnitures and making home appliances like bed, doors, etc. Themain vision of this corporation is to provide goods and services at minimum prices to theircustomers (Yang, Hong and Modi, 2011). For achieving this operational management isneeded. It deals with designing, improving the system and various other operations thatgenerate and transfer important goods or services to users. As in the case of commerce andeconomics, management of operations is a serviceable field of business having a clearadministration duty. Main decisions are that are taken with the help of it are listed below:Strategic Decisions : OM( Operation management) help managers of high rank inmaking strategical level decisions. These finding view present constraint as well assituations in order to make effectual system and corporation-wide processing so thatcompetitive benefit can be gained.Tactical decisions: OM manages effectively the available resources as well asemployees under norms and discipline of organisation. For instance, tactical decisionsinvolves shift related planning of workers that is who are order to do night shift andwho are happy in doing morning shift.
