successfully and effectively. Some of the key
approaches of operations management have
been drawn below.
Lean production approach: It is a systematic
and effective production approach that is used
by the company to minimize the waste resources
in the competitive market. This production
approach is used by the organization to boost
profitability and outputs at minimum cost
(Gawer, 2011).

Total quality approach: It is significant
approach which helps in improving
performance and productivity of the
employees and organization as well. By using
this approach, the company is able to
determine and analyze the quality and
evaluate efficiency of the operation
management. Total quality approach does not
only render clean and unique tools and
methods of services and products, it is
identified and focused on the quality in every
segment of the company (Ross, 2017).

Role of leaders and managers
The operation leaders and managers within an
organization are working to execute and design supply
chain strategies and approaches that increase and
maximize the productivity, reduce risk and efficiently
respond to fluctuations in demand. The operations
managers or leaders play a leading and growing role in
handling both the personnel and raw material. The
operation managers further help in controlling,
budgeting and keeping the company on track
effectively. It is stated that leaders or managers set
objectives and goals and establishes policies and
approaches for different departments in the company
(Drucker, 2012).

to perform roles and responsibilities in a

This management is further significant for the
functioning of the firm (Windham, 2018).

It is portrayed that operation management
plays a crucial and vital role in the
organization as they produce operation
leaders which are capable enough to attain or
accomplish the desired strategic goals and
objectives in a given time period. It is
effective to handle and manage the various
issues such as operation, design,
maintenance and improvement and
enhancement of the system implemented to
produce to company’s products and services
(Rahman, Laosirihongthong and Sohal, 2010).

The worth and value of operation
management us high because it assures that
suppliers, manufacturing, materials and
workers work together in an effective way to
reduce production cost. This minimized cost
is converted to the customers in terms of
price or cost. The overall success and growth
of any organization is dependent on the
operation management (Belbin, 2010).

The leaders play an empirical role in improving
and enhancing the efficiency and
effectiveness of the operational management
to meet the long term objectives and goals of
the firm. Some of the significant ways
through which they can improves the

attaining goals that been drawn below.

The managers and leaders need to focus on the
supply chain management and lean production to
improve and enhance the effectiveness of the
operational management in the organization.
They further can align the goals, plans, strategies
and policies in order to enhance the operational
competence and effectiveness.
The leaders further sets the appropriate efficiency
measurement to assist and guide continuous
improvement and enhancement. It will helping in
the achieving long term objectives and goals.

CSR: It is one of the major factors that can put direct
impact on the operation management of the firm. It
also affects the decision making system of the
company. The CSR policy makes the company to make
effective decision which are ethical in nature and
would be beneficial in the welfare of the stakeholders.

Ethics: It is imperial factor that also affect the
operation management and decision making
process of the firm (Sarkis, Gonzalez-Torre
and Adenso-Diaz, 2010).
Sustainability: It is defined as an approach
which identifies and focuses on to meet the
long term needs and requirements of the
business. The sustainability strategies and
practices get impact in the operation
management as the sustainability determines
that the resources of the firm are used in an
effective manner in the firm without misusing
it (Diabat and Govindan, 2011).

The business environment is largely affected by the CSR
policy and ethics adopted by the firm as the CSR policy of
the organization enhances and improves the financial
position of the firm and encourages the company in a socially
responsibly manner which is major concern for the firm. The
CSR policy also ensures that the company follows
sustainability which would harm the environment and
workplace by polluting it. In this way, it reduces pollution
and increases awareness among the community. In this way,
it puts direct impact on the community and business
environment to a large extent. Ethics also helps in improving
the image of the firm as a result, it supports in making
dynamic environment and further puts positive impact on
the community (Wang, Chen and Chen, 2012).
