1. An introduction to chosen organization
Toyota (GB) PLC is an automotive manufacturing company which is offering
products and services worldwide. The company is offering sales, marketing and customer
relations. Toyota (GB) PLC is a subsidiary company of the parent company, Toyota Motor
Corporation (Almeida, G.V.D and et.al., 2018). The company was founded in 1965 and is
managed by Agustin Martin. The two divisions which are managed by the company are
Toyota GB and Lexus. There are around 400 employees working within the organisation,
creating and manufacturing designs and products which are innovative and through which
they can bring innovative change to the society with the help of their products and services.
The company manages marketing and sales function of the management and also
focuses on providing after sales customer services which can help them to retain maximum
number of their customers and gain competitive advantage from providing quality customer
support (Chawla, V and et.al., 2018). The company receive sales and products from their
parent company, Toyota Manufacturing Unit and thus the receive their products via sea
facility at Portbury. The sales of the company are handled by maintaining a national network
which involves around 200 Toyota Centers which focus on establish strong communication
and networking channels through which they can manage sales and deliver their products to
each location through which they can meet demand of their customers.
Toyota is a multinational automotive manufacturing company which have several
subsidiary companies which are operating in various countries and delivering their products
to markets through which they can meet customer demands and maintain their position in the
marketplace. Toyota is a largest automotive manufacturing company which offers products
such as automobiles, luxury vehicles, engines, robots and commercial vehicles and offers
banking, financing and leasing services.
2. An explanation of operation vs operations management
Operations
These are tasks and activities of business which are managed by management for
running the business smoothly and effectively (Anand and Gray, 2017). Operations of Toyota
involve strategic planning related to the systems and processes which will help the
organsiation to perform their managerial operations effectively and efficiently.

Operations management- Operations management is the activity of business which
helps to create higher level of efficiency in the organisation. The activities which are
involved with operations management are concerned with converting raw materials to
efficient goods and services which will help organisation to maximize profits for their
organisation.
With the help of operations management, Toyota can balance the cost with revenues
which will help the company in achieving highest net operating profits. The operation
management activities revolve around four theories, which are: business process redesign,
reconfigurable manufacturing systems, six sigma and lean manufacturing.
Principles of operations management
There are several principles of operations management, some principles of operation
management which are followed by Toyota are discussed below:
Reality- The operational manager must focus on conflicts and issues so that they can
resolve them by using constructive approaches (Chary, 2017). Operation management
of Toyota must regularly monitor and focus on problems rather than focusing on
techniques which will be used by the companies.
Organization- The process in manufacturing are interconnected and all the elements
which are used must be consistent and predictable which will help in achieving same
outcomes in terms of profits. It can be seen that all activities are interconnected and
organizing all activities of the company will help Toyota to accomplish targets and
get maximum profits.
Fundamentals- The operational manager must be competent to comply with all basic
and necessary fundamentals which will lead to successful production. Toyota must
focus on meeting all operations and activities to the planned procedures which will be
helpful in meeting the desired standards.
Accountability- Operations manager must set and define rules and define the roles
and responsibilities of their subordinates. They must regularly monitor and evaluate
the achievement of desired objectives (Choi, Cheng and Zhao, 2016). The operation
manager of Toyota must focus on delegating all roles and responsibilities of their
subordinates which will be helpful in timely meeting of desired goals and objectives.
Change- Every employee of the organisation must be flexible and comfortable in
adapting change to match with the rapid changes in the market. This will help Toyota
