INTRODUCTION
Operation management is based on the practices that will perform different functional
responsibility for producing the different services within organization. It provide them directly to
its existing consumers. This report will discuss about the different operational management
practices and their impact on the overall business efficiency as well as performance.
Furthermore, it will describe about the modern technology that could be embedded in the process
or evaluate. However, this documentation will support the different organizational function that
are established linked with the management practices in order to achieve desirable goal or
objective.

Operational management practice is based on the administration of enterprise to create or
develop a highest level of performance or efficiency possible within M&S. Company will
concern about the converting raw materials into labour into goods as well as service with
efficiency as possible to increase overall business profitability and productivity of M&S. The
field of retail enterprise operations concern about all kind of activities that keep a store
functioning in day by day (Data, 2020). M&S is carefully considered, planned and executed the
different area. Sometimes, it includes many aspect such store design, display placement, credit
handling, consumer service, staff management, inventory optimization and also dealing with
supply chain which lead to have products.
Physical design responsibilities- it is major part of shopping experience, design is
consider both art as well as science. It often using information to help make a better selection or
choice in context of product display. Here are aspect of design that fall under operational
management practice. The visibility and consumer traffic pattern plays important role in success
of M&S. so as important aspect to set up a proper interior, exterior design on the basis of
consumers demand.

Customer service functions- it is another important operation management practice which plays
important role in the success depends on the consumer service. Here, it treats its potential client
which may have not right or specific representation of client, potential review and sales. An
excellent consumer service will help for increasing their competitiveness, event it make up for
better convenience in term of pricing (Helo and Hao, 2019). A positive, personalized customer
service will help M&S to compete against strong competitors. However, it will be focused on
implementing the online operations which have been increasingly good at provide the better
consumer service.
Internal Control function- M&S needs to be carefully define, implement and monitor
different areas of business operations. As they can directly impact on the bottom line of
enterprise. M&S have been focused on handling cash which require for people and system to
track everything, discrepancies, keep record all kind of financial information, inventory
management in proper manner. Nowadays, M&S can use the modern technology which often
come in the form of point of sales that help to handle the sales on daily basis. in this way, it
become easier for managing the consumer information and inventory management within proper
manner.
M&S can develop and maintain the overall internal controls or standards operating the
procedure or plan. In this way, it can easily prevent the problem with cash handling, fraud and
other shoplifting (Kumar and Singh, 2019). These type of control will help them to prevent
inventory management. Sometimes, company will include as cross-check such as deposit slip for
cash, well-defined set of different authorized functions. There are certain level of staff members
have access to certain kind of items or part of physical store.
Administration functions- These are considered the important organization management
practice which fall under managing the premises, maintain the store in the good working order. It
make sure that all potential consumer turned off by adequate facilities and other poor
maintenance. At that point, M&S can provide the better training session for their staff members,
especially when given the frequent turnover in retailer.
