1. An introduction to chosen organization

Operations Management refers to the use of a wide range of methods and techniques
through which the management of the operational needs and requirements within an
organization can be carried out in a proper manner (Benjaafar and Hu, 2020). Therefore, in
this way it can be quite useful to make sure that the attainment of the operational goals and
objectives can be done in a right way. This helps in maximizing the overall operational
efficiency and effectiveness in a proper manner. For this report, Morrisons has been chosen.
It is a British Company which provides a wide variety of products and services to the
customers in the market. In this report, a detailed and specific focus will be made on the need
of application of Operations Management in order to attain the goals and objectives in the
future in a right way.
2. An explanation of operation vs operations management
Operation refers to the area from where the management of the work of a particular
organization can be done in a proper manner (Chen, Dong and Shi, 2020). This can be useful
in the attainment of the overall goals and objectives. Operations Management refers to the
use of methods and techniques through which the overall operational efficiency and
effectiveness so that the attainment of the goals and objectives can be done in a proper way.
Therefore, it can be said that there is a difference between the two and the managers are
required to make sure that they are able to take right actions for the purpose of managing the
particular needs and requirements within the organization.
3. A review and critique of the implementation of
operations management principles within the chosen
organization
Operations Management Principles are quite important to be applied within a
particular organization (Chen and et.al., 2020). This is so because by implementing these
particular principles the enhancement in the overall efficiency and effectiveness in an
organization can be done. Therefore, it is important that the application of the following
principles can be done within Morrisons-
 Reality- There must be focus on reality within an organization. Thus, in this way it
can be stated that the focus must be put on those aspects within an organization like
Morrisons which are real so that the increase in efficiency and effectiveness can be
done.
 Organization- There are various types of processes which are important within an
organization. Thus, it is important to put focus on them so that the enhancement in the
overall efficiency and effectiveness can be carried out. This will be quite important in
Morrisons.
 Fundamentals- It is important for the Operational Managers to make sure that the
compliance with the fundamental principles of Operational Management can be done
which will be quite helpful for the company. This can be important in Morrisons.
 Accountability- For the Operational Managers, it becomes very important that the
accountability level can be fixed which will thus help in attaining a higher-level of
operational efficiency and effectiveness. Therefore, for the management of Morrisons

it is necessary to ensure that the accountability can be created in a proper manner
highly effectively and efficiently.
 Variance- The Operational Managers are required to ensure that they can find out the
variance. For the managers of Morrisons, it is necessary that the variance can be
identified and the rectifying steps can be taken to reduce this variance in a proper
manner.
 Causality- It is important for the Operational Managers that they can identify the root
cause of the problem which has occurred within a particular organization. For
Morrisons, it is therefore essential that it is able to make sure that it is able to assess
the root cause of the problem so that the rectifications can be made in a proper manner
effectively and efficiently.
 Managed Passion- The Operational Managers should be able to make sure that they
can effectively and efficiently inspire the employees so that they are able to display
their passion at work. In this way, the management of Morrisons will be able to make
sure that the overall motivation and morale of the employees can be enhanced so that
the attainment of the goals and objectives in the future can be done in a proper
manner.
 Humility- There is a need for the Operational Managers to ensure that they do not
display too much aggression and are able to display humility as well (Choi, Guo and
Luo, 2020). In this way, the managers of Morrisons will be able to make sure that
they are able to manage the particular needs and requirements in an appropriate way
within the organization.
 Success- It is quite important for the Operational Managers that they are able to make
sure what they determine as successful. Therefore, in this way the attainment of the
goals and objectives in the future can be carried out in a proper manner quite
effectively and efficiently.
 Change- It is necessary for the Operational Managers that the adaptation to the wide
variety of changes in the market can be done in a proper way. In this way, the
management at Morrisons will be able to make sure that the adaptation to the
necessary changes can be carried out in a right way quite effectively and efficiently.
4. An analysis of the extent to which the operations
management of the organisation in the case study meets
the requirements of the organization
Morrisons is a company which provides a wide variety of products and services to the
customers in the market. Therefore, it can be stated that the company is able to make sure that
the application of a wide variety of operational management principles can be done by it so
that the requirements can be met in a proper manner. In this way, the management of the
particular level of needs and requirements of the company can be done and this will thus help
it to be able to make relevant progress in the future. The Operational Managers of the
