INTRODUCTIONOrganisation is the group of people who works together for accomplishing their sharedgoals or purpose. The behaviour of these people and the environment of the organisation istermed as the organisational behaviour. Organisational behaviour can influence the performanceof the firm and its employees if proper environment is not maintained at the workplace. Thetaken firm in this assignment report is the 4com plc which is a telecommunications firm in UKand provides business telephones system to the consumers in UK. This company was founded bythe Daron Hutt in the year 1999 at Bournemouth, Dorse, UK and currently having 300employees. This report will discuss the impact of culture, politics and power on theorganisational behaviour along with the various motivational techniques which can be used bythe firms for motivating their employees. This report will further evaluate the team dynamics andbenefits of working in a team. In the end, this report will cover the effectively achieving the teamgoals with the help of philosophies and concepts of organisational behaviour.TASK 1P1: Influence of power, culture and politicsPower is defined as a capacity of an individual who directs and influences the behaviourof others. Some kind of power are defined as under:Coercive power: This type of power is used by the managers for threatening and forcingtheir employees so that task should be completed in given time-frame. Managers of 4complc isnot adopted this method because it may enhance the dissatisfaction level among the employeesas it can will influence on their performance level which can also impact on the organisationalperformance in negative manner (Atherton, 2015).Reward power: It is used by the managers for increasing the motivation level of theirteam mates so that assigned tasks should be completed in proper manner. This power is held bythe HR managers of 4complc because they monitor the performance and provide rewards to theiremployees so that their performance level can be improved which is beneficial for overall growthof firm.Legitimate power: Such power is related with a specific position which is given to aperson who have ability and skills for holding this position and it is given to them by theirsuperiors. BOD and CEO of 4complc has this power which is provided to them for handling all

the operations of firm so that performance of individuals and organisation can be maintained inproper manner. Referent power: This power is also called as the power of respect which is assigned tothose employees who have a good track record in the workplace. In 4complc HR managers andLeaders are holding such power so the working condition can be managed in proper manner. Itcan also enhance the performance level in positive manner because when the employees willlisten only from their superiors then chances of positive results will be higher which willbeneficial for achievement of organisational goals (Ball, 2012).Expert power: Such power is achieved by an individual through performing a similaractivity for a long time period in the workplace. In 4complc, HR managers and Team leadershave such power which is used by them for providing support to their teammates so thatemployees can perform their duties in improved manner. With the help of this power, chances ofconflicts and issues will be decreased which is profitable for firm in gaining growth andsustainability in the marketplace.Informational power: This power is hold by those persons who have properunderstanding of their liability towards the firm. Furthermore, it is delegated to those employeeswho have capabilities of securing the informations like bond papers, financial procedures oforganisation. In 4complc, CEO or Managers exercised this power so that important data of firmlike employee's informations will secured in proper manner.Influences of power on the behaviour of individual and firm: Power may possesnegative effect on the working behaviour of employees and organisation some time because if itis exercised by wrong persons in the firm then it will decease the motivation level of theemployees which is not beneficial for the firm in taking growth and success in the marketplace. Organisational culture: It comprises of numerous elements like values, beliefs andassumption which supports an organisation to make their organisational structure. Values oforganisation always supports the managers of firm so that behaviour of employees can beanalysed. For making an effective organisational culture, managers of firm can take supportsfrom the Handy's typology which is given as under:Handy's typology of organisational culture: Such model was proposed by CharlesHandy in which they have divided it in four parts (Models of Organisational Culture - Handy,2015).
