Introduction
This research paper undertakes the discussion on leadership for change. Change strategy is an
indispensable part of organisational operations as business changes according to the external
environment. Leadership is the way to influence people and induce people to take the change
positively and react to the goals decided positively (Komives, and Wagner, 2016). Effective
leadership can lead to effective changes, which becomes competitive advantage for the
organisation if company effectively implements and adapt the changes properly. A leader has
to follow three basic steps for change strategy, which is related to adaption to changes in
determining the readiness of the people to adapt the changes and their will to accomplish with
the changes (Komives, and Wagner, 2016).
Research on leadership for change
According to Komives, and Wagner, (2016), Leadership is a process through which a person
has the power to influence others and change the values, attitudes, behaviour, and beliefs. An
individual with strong leadership skills is a role model to its employees as the leader is able to
achieve good results and attempt to gain admiration and trust, values, attitudes, and
behaviour. Leadership plays an important role in managing the change strategy. In current
scenario, change is a major issue, as it is common feature of human life. Change is difficult to
accept as it often pull them out of their comfort zones, which force them to change the habits
and their way of working and uncomfortable. As per the discussion conducted by Komives,
and Wagner, (2016), For example- if a worker starts the work at 9 am and its supervisor
requests the employees to start the work again because the enforcement of changing the
habits keep them awakened. Leadership for change is an approach in order to deal with every
change in two different areas such as individual and organisation and through the appropriate
human resources will adapt to several changes in their own style. Effective leadership is an
important element in the organisation while managing the current organisational culture.

While following the older ways in managing the management, these can not be effective in
sustaining the company in the market. Management and leadership are two different systems;
a company will be surprised to find that there is as such system which will completely effect
the needs or will suit the organisation`s needs. It is the system through which it is based on
budgeting, controlling and planning (Thompson, Vamos, and Daley, 2017). As the
organisation emphasizes on following a particular plan, which is set by the senior
management of the organisation. Leadership plays a crucial role in guiding and training the
employees in order to solve the problems led by desired direction as per the organisation`
mission and vision. The second change is related to controlling and implementing it in daily
life. A leader convinces to employees to adopt the changes by delegating them training and
controlling their performance. At the last stage, to see the effective changes and sustain it at
the same time. A leader should communicate to the employees to process changes in the
organisation that is too hard to decide because of difference in employee`s capability to adopt
the changes. According to Thompson, Vamos, and Daley, (2017), if there is no effective
leadership in the organisation and if no changes are made in the organisation as there are no
leaders motivate and direct the company`s employees as it provides a concise direction to the
organisation. Leadership shapes the organisational culture and effective leadership shapes
good culture of the organisation. There is a need to build trust between employees. Leaders
and employees need to trust each other to shape the organisational culture. An enhanced
organisational culture not only emphasises on improving the performance but it also
influences the demeanour of the employees for the betterment of the organisation. Apart from
this, it lead to motivating the employees and provide them a sense of belongingness to the
company that brings commitment and loyalty into the organisation. An efficient
organisational culture not only enhances the performances and reduces the total turnover rate
but also facilitates the resolution of the organisation`s work culture can be established, where
