INTRODUCTION
In a company, to manage the workplace, the major function played by managers is setting
up organisation behaviour. This would help in understanding the interface between
organisational performance and human behaviour, towards particular circumstances (Colquitt
and et. al., 2011). The present report is going to analyse this concept in context with setting up
organisation that works for women managers. For this purpose, Myer Holdings Ltd. is taken,
which is founded in 1900 in Victoria and deals in clothing market. It offers a range of apparels to
each category of women, men, babies and children, with cosmetics, accessories, home decors,
furniture and other general merchandise. To run its stores and offer a high customer experience,
this company uses the personality testing strategy for recruitment and selection of talented
workers. In this regard, main advantages of respective strategy are explained under the present
assignment. Along with this, types of stereotypes at workplace and process by which same can
break down by managers and old or new workers are also highlighted.
TASK 1
Actions that a company needs to take to build an organisation which works for women managers
Woman posses certain unique qualities like effective leadership skills, peaceful attitude,
sharp minded to resolve difficult situations, extraordinary thinking abilities etc. that make them
strong managers, if they lead such position in a company (Choi, 2011). They could even prove
better managers as compared with male counterparts in terms of driving employee engagement
and enhancing customer experience. Female workers are also skilled in building effective
relationship and collaboration among staff members, to strengthen the team. In the management
position, they are tended to be more hard working in order to become the perfectionist in its role.
Therefore, they are also considered as highly productive to enhance organisational performance
and providing better customer experience, so that desired profitability and growth of business
can be gained. In context with present company i.e. Myer Holdings Ltd., as it has expanded its
business over 64 locations in Australia, which are counted as largest department store in terms of
revenue, so to manage such large workplace, female managers play a main role (Carpenter,
Berry and Houston, 2014). But as diversity is not easily going to happen overnight, where
employees especially male counterparts may be apathetic when female managers overruled them.
As visibility is critical, therefore, it arises a number of situations or problems in front of company

to make women managers visible and make employees engage to work under their guidance
(Bolino and et. al., 2013). Along with this, in fast changing corporate world where equality at
workplace is highly concerned, females are still facing the minority or discriminations, when it
comes to lead a superior position. It includes the impact of gender stereotypes, invisibility,
different perspectives against women, views on credibility and management or leadership styles
etc.
Since Myer Holdings Limited seeks to achieve the strong position in retail market by
retaining customers for longer period. Therefore, via building an effective team, it can achieve its
desired goals more easily (Boje, Burnes and Hassard, 2011). Hereby, team work is highly
important under respective company to anticipate each and every requirement of customers on
time and enhance their shopping experience. In this regard, if female managers do not get desired
working environment where employee engagement or collaboration among team members
cannot be formed, then it directly affect such goals and customer experience negatively, because
if workers do not work in collaboration then they attempt to provide better services to customers
can be failed (Avey, Palanski and Walumbwa, 2011). Therefore, it is essential for upper level of
management to build an organisation for enhancing the profile of women managers and building
an effective environment where they can work appropriately. In this regard, some actions that
respective company can be taken are profiling women managers at stores are given as below:
Offer better pay – The management of Myer needs to give priority first to change the
pay rates within employment policy, for profiling women managers (Ates and Bititci,
2011). As women are more dedicated towards their job so it is essential for respective
company to offer fair compensation packages. This is so because it will help in attracting
more qualified female workers and getting their contribution in achievement of business
objectives.
Recognise bias Reviewing the thoughts and giving chance to female to get
management position at workplace, will aid in reducing biasedness in present company.
Along with this, promoting and encouraging females employees will help in enhancing
their profile at respective organization. Company must also involve them in decision
