Project Aims at finding out customer numbers in terms of new and retained
customers at Shamania Indian Restaurant located at Cartwell, Hamilton.
The restaurants use of social media and customer retention will be determined
through an interview and recommendations offered.
Scope
Survey will focus only of Shamania Branch at Cartwell
Survey will focus on customer numbers (new and existing) and whether
restaurant is able to retain them and/ or acquire new ones
Recommendations will focus on use of social media and digital platforms to
improve customer delivery and their retention

Research Background
There are about 20 Indian Restaurants in
Hamilton, NZ Making it highly competitive.
The number of Indian Restaurants has
increased resulting in increased competition
given customers have many choices.
The restaurants rely on these customers to
sustain their businesses so increased
competition reduces the customer base for the
restaurants.
Started in 1989 and now with 27 branches in
NZ, Shamania restaurant boasts a wide
variety of Indian cuisine.
My research is focused on Shamania
restaurant located at Cartwell, Hamilton
The organisation has been a business success
but with increasing competition it is likely to
face significant competition which would
affect the existing customer base.

Social media engagement is the new marketing method
Interaction through social media leads to greater well being and
can help retain clients (Kumar, 2019)
Customers now expect businesses to respond to them fast using
social media
Engagement through social media increases loyalty
Social media enables businesses to learn about customers more
Businesses can get insights into customer needs through social
media feedback comments by customers (Henderson, 2018)
