INTRODUCTION
Organization theory is refer to the set of principles and concepts which provides
framework in the aspect of proper study of performance, structure and activities of organization.
It is also defined as the study of single person and team working within company and it also
reflects that in which way the structure of firm is strongly developed. With help of various
organizational theory organization easily sustained positive relationship with all categories of
consumers for long time. Here the chosen company is Mark and Spencer and the head office of
this company is situated in United Kingdom (Al Kerdawy, 2019). The organization was
established in 1884 by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer. Mark and Spencer is dealing with
wide range of products which includes grocery items, food products, fashionable cloths, beauty
products and others. The report will covers evaluate the organization structure and culture of
selected company, how do their impact the way the company is being managed. It also cover are
the employees of the firm motivated adequately to achieve the organizational goals. It further
covers evaluate whether the company is performing well or not because of the approaches that
they are undertaking.

Organizational structure
Organizational structure is refers to in which manner manage their activities in systematic
manner. Activities includes effective communication, supervision and allocation of task. With
help of these activities organization is able to sustaining organizational objectives in long term.
The structure of organization is also impact the various activities within business and also
provides strong foundation where routine rest and operating process are carried effectively.
Hierarchical organizational structure – It is basically a one type of pyramid shaped
chart in the form of hierarchical organizational structure. Due to following this type of
organizational structure Mark and Spencer is able to maintain their work efficiency and
productivity at higher rate effectively. In this type of structure the chain of command is
goes from top to down. Manager or CEO is comes under the category of higher authority
and lower employees are comes in category of lower level.

Functional organizational structure – It is also the one type of organizational structure
which is followed many organizations. In this structure the activities of company is
started with high post and higher responsibilities from the top and goes down from there.
Primarily, though workers are recognized according to their corresponding activities and
their effective talent within organization. In context to Mark and Spencer, here every
departments will performed their job role independently.
Flat organizational structure – It is also the one type of organizational structure and
this structured comes under the category of horizontal organizational structure. The main
benefit during the time of using this structure by organization is that here the involvement
of intermediaries between top and lower level workers is very low. According to this
structure the management of Mark and Spencer need to utilize all types of departments
for accomplishing their responsibilities in time and systematically.
Recommendation -
From the analysis of above organizational structure it concludes that Mark and Spencer
must follow Flat organizational structure. Because with help of this structure top level
management is able to maintain friendly relations with their employees in long term (Cho, and
Linderman, 2019). Due to keeping positive relations company easily identified the strength and
weakness of employees quickly.
Organizational culture
Organizational structure is basically defined as positive work and behaviour culture
which is managed by top level management in their workplace between employees. With help of
maintaining good behaviour from all categories of employees, the overall performance and
goodwill of company is easily increased at high rate. The company is consist of different types of
belief and values which is established by the higher authorities then communicated and reinforce
through different types of methods.
Charles handy model of culture is basically refer to motivational theories which is
utilized by organization for sustaining their mission, vision and objectives for long duration. Due
to the effective use of this type of culture organization easily enhanced the motivation level of
employees in their job roles and responsibilities effectively. Due to this the positive result of the
company is also enhanced within short time. In this step basically four steps are involved which
are described below -
